Mike Joyce (golfer)
Mike Joyce (May 2, 1939 – August 28, 2020) was an American professional golfer. Joyce joined the Senior PGA Tour (now Champions Tour) in 1989, winning once, the 1992 GTE Northwest Classic. He played regularly on the Tour from 1989 to 1996 and last appeared in 2001. Joyce's youngest brother Kevin was a member of the United States national basketball team at the 1972 Summer Olympics. The Town of Huntington is one of ten towns in Suffolk County, New York. PGA Tour Champions (formerly the Senior PGA Tour and the Champions Tour) is a men's professional senior golf tour, administered as a branch of the PGA Tour. History and format The Senior PGA Championship, founded in 1937, was for many years the only high-profile tournament for golfers over 50. The idea for a senior tour grew out of a highly successful event in 1978, the Legends of Golf at Onion Creek Club in Austin, Texas, which featured competition between two-member teams of some of the greatest older golfers of that day. The GTE Northwest Classic was a professional golf tournament in the Seattle area on the Senior PGA Tour. Played for ten seasons, from 1986 Senior PGA Tour, 1986 through 1995 Senior PGA Tour, 1995, its inaugural event was at Sahalee Country Club (now in Sammamish, Washington, Sammamish) and the last nine were at Inglewood Golf Club in Kenmore, Washington, Kenmore. The title sponsor was Frontier Communications Northwest, GTE Northwest, a local telephone operating company headquartered in Everett, Washington, Everett. Bruce Crampton was the only multiple winner, with victories at both venues; the only playoff was in 1994, won by Simon Hobday with a birdie on the third extra hole to defeat Jim Albus. The Long Island PGA Championship is a professional golf tournament played on Long Island, New York. It is sponsored by the Metropolitan section of the PGA of America. The current title of the event is the MasterCard Long Island PGA Championship. History During the first half of the tournament's history, Al Brosch had great success at the event, winning the event nine times. By the end of this period, the event was jokingly referred to as a "benefit" for Brosch as he so reliably picked up the first place cheque. In 1975, it transformed into a match play event. The champion was exempt but otherwise the field was determined during a one-round qualifier. In 1978, the local supermarket King Kullen began sponsoring the tournament. Mike Hill (golfer)
Michael Joseph Hill (born January 27, 1939) is an American professional golfer. Born in Jackson, Michigan, Hill attended Arizona State University in Tempe and turned professional in 1967. Hill had three PGA Tour wins and his best finish in a major was a tie for eleventh at the PGA Championship in 1974.
