Michael Hart (mayor)
Michael Brannan Hart (c. 1814 – 9 August 1878) was the publican of the White Hart Hotel in Christchurch, New Zealand, that stood on the corner of High and Cashel Streets. It was Christchurch's first hotel. Hart, originally from Freshford, Somerset, England, was one of the first settlers of Christchurch. He was a colourful character and stood for elections to the Canterbury Provincial Council and Parliament, but was unsuccessful. He was elected onto Christchurch City Council in 1869, and was chosen as Mayor of Christchurch 1873–1874 by his fellow councillors. He gave the first chain to the Christchurch mayoral chain. He was the first mayor to wear regalia, modelled on the robes of the Lord Mayor of London. He intended to leave the robes to Christchurch City Council, but after a disagreement, he changed his will and the robes were buried with him. Michael James Hart (born 19 June 1960) is an Australian Liberal National Party of Queensland, Liberal National politician who is the member of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland for Electoral district of Burleigh, Burleigh, having defeated Christine Smith (politician), Christine Smith at the 2012 Queensland state election, 2012 state election then being re-elected at the 31 January election in 2015. Michael was born in Bega on 19 June 1960. Before his entry into the Queensland parliament he was the company director and CEO of Mastercut Technologies. Michael John Hart MBE (born 24 October 1951) is a British former rower who competed in the 1972 Summer Olympics and in the 1976 Summer Olympics. Rowing career Hart was at Peterhouse, Cambridge and rowed in the winning Cambridge boat in the Boat Races in the 1972 and 1973 races, stroking the boat in 1973. In 1972, he partnered David Maxwell to finish eighth rowing at the 1972 Summer Olympics in the coxed pairs event. In 1973 he teamed up with Chris Baillieu in the double scull to win the Double Sculls Challenge Cup at Henley Royal Regatta. Rowing for Leander Club, they won the event again in 1975 and in between he participated in the 1974 World Rowing Championships in Lucerne, competing in the double sculls event with Bailleau, which resulted in winning a bronze medal. Michael Lawrence Hart (born February 17, 1958 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is a former Major League Baseball outfielder. He played parts of two seasons in the major leagues, for the Minnesota Twins in and for the Baltimore Orioles in . Michael Hart (born 10 February 1980) is a retired Scottish footballer who played as a right back for Aberdeen, Livingston, Preston North End, Hibernian, St Johnstone, Airdrie United and Huntly. Career Hart came through the ranks at Aberdeen and made his debut in a 1–1 draw with Dunfermline Athletic in 1998. He made a total of 19 first team appearances before moving on to Livingston on loan in 2000. His move to Livingston was made permanent in July 2001 and he helped them to a third-place finish in their first season in the SPL, which gave them qualification for the 2002–03 UEFA Cup. Leon Michael Hart (born April 9, 1986) is an American football coach and former player. He currently serves as the running backs coach at University of Michigan. Hart played college football as a running back at the University of Michigan from 2004 to 2007 and holds the Michigan Wolverines career rushing record with 5,040 yards. Michael William Hart (born 1956) has been fellow in politics at Exeter College, Oxford since 1982. His research interests include British Politics since 1880 and Modern Southern Africa. Sir Michael Christopher Campbell Hart (7 May 1948 – 20 February 2007) was a judge of the High Court of England and Wales in the Chancery Division. Born in London, Hart was educated at Winchester College, where he was cox of the rowing eight, and read law at Magdalen College, Oxford. He graduated with a first-class degree in 1969, and then studied for the Bachelor of Civil Law. He took a second first, winning the Vinerian Prize and Scholarship for the best exam performance.
