Mike Gerber (baseball)
Michael Jeffrey Gerber (born July 8, 1992) is an American professional baseball outfielder who is currently a free agent. He previously played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants and in Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) for the Chunichi Dragons. Career Gerber was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 40th round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft out of Neuqua Valley High School in Naperville, Illinois. He did not sign and attended Creighton University to play college baseball. Detroit Tigers Gerber was then drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 15th round of the 2014 MLB Draft. He made his professional debut with the Connecticut Tigers and also played with the West Michigan Whitecaps. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). These numbers are shorthand designations useful in baseball scorekeeping and are not necessarily the same as the squad numbers worn on player uniforms. The Erie SeaWolves are an United States, American professional baseball team based in Erie, Pennsylvania. The Arizona Fall League (AFL) is an off-season sports league owned and operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) which operates during the autumn in Arizona, United States, at six different baseball complexes. Arizona Fall League rosters are filled by many of the top prospects in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) who are assigned by their parent clubs. The West Michigan Whitecaps are a Minor League Baseball team of the Midwest League and the High-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. They are located in Comstock Park, Michigan, a suburb of Grand Rapids, and play their home games at LMCU Ballpark.
