Mike Fofana
Seydougou Santis "Mike" Fofana (born 5 October 1997) is an Ivorian-American basketball player who plays for AS Douanes of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He is a tall power forward and also plays for the Ivory Coast national team. High school and college career Fofana played for Whitehaven High School and won the Tennessee State championship twice. He played two years for the UT Martin Skyhawks men's basketball team in the NCAA Division II. Afterwards, Fofana played one season for the Henderson State Reddies and was an Honorable Mention All- GAC in his first year. Professional career Fofana played his rookie season with Aveira Esgueira of the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol (LPB), with whom he averaged 14.2 points and 6.5 rebounds. In July 2021, Fofana signed a one-season contract with Sporting CP of the Liga Portuguesa de Basquetebol (LPB) and the FIBA Europe Cup. Basketball Africa League
The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is Africa's premier men's basketball league. The league consists of twelve teams, each qualified through their domestic competition, similar to the format of the UEFA Champions League. The league is a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA) with sponsorship from Nike, Inc., Nike, Air Jordan and Pepsi. Its 2021 BAL season, inaugural season started with the qualifying rounds in October 2019 and the regular season in May 2021. The competition replaces FIBA's Africa Basketball League as the continent's top-tier league. BAL president, Amadou Gallo Fall, announced at the 2020 NBA All-Star Game Africa Luncheon in Chicago, that the season will tip off on 13 March. FIBA Europe Cup
The FIBA Europe Cup (FEC) is an annual professional club basketball competition organised by FIBA for eligible European clubs. It is FIBA's European-wide second level. Clubs mainly qualify for the competition based on their performance in national leagues and cup competitions, although this is not the sole deciding factor. The league was founded in 2015 as a replacement of the FIBA EuroChallenge. History On June 30, 2015, FIBA announced it would start a new league to compete with Euroleague Basketball's EuroCup. The new competition, which replaced EuroChallenge, was supposed to be open for up to 100 teams to enter. The 2023 FIBA AfroCan was the 2nd edition of the FIBA AfroCan. The tournament was held from 8 July to 16 July 2023 and was be hosted in Angola.
