Mike Flanagan (American Football)
Michael Christopher Flanagan (born November 10, 1973) is an American former professional football player who was a center for 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the UCLA Bruins and was selected by the Green Bay Packers in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft with the 90th overall pick. Flanagan played from 1998 to 2005 with the Packers and then with the Houston Texans from 2006 to 2007. Early life and college Flanagan was born in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Rio Americano High School in Sacramento, California, in 1991. He is of Irish descent. At UCLA, Flanagan redshirted in 1991, played one game in 1992, and started 32 consecutive games from 1993 to 1995. Michael Kendall Flanagan (December 16, 1951 – August 24, 2011) was an American professional baseball left-handed pitcher, front office executive, and color commentator. He spent 18 years as a player in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Baltimore Orioles (1975–1987, 1991–1992) and the Toronto Blue Jays (1987–1990). Flanagan was a starting pitcher for the Orioles from 1975 through 1987. He was named to the American League (AL) All-Star Team once in 1978. In 1979, the first of two years he would play on an AL pennant winner, his 23 victories led the circuit and earned him the AL's Cy Young Award. He was a member of the Orioles' World Series Championship team in 1983. During the 1987 season, he was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays, with whom he pitched through 1990. He returned to Baltimore to close out his playing career as a relief pitcher in 1991 and 1992. Michael Flanagan (born 9 November 1952) is an English former professional footballer and manager. Playing career Flanagan made his debut for Charlton Athletic in the 1971-72 season and formed a successful partnership with Derek Hales, although the pair were once sent off in an FA Cup tie for fighting with each other. During the summer of 1978 Flanagan crossed the Atlantic and signed for the New England Tea Men of the NASL, and subsequently scored 30 goals in 28 league appearances. He also won the MVP award (Most Valuable Player) for the 1978 season, ahead of such players as the legendary Franz Beckenbauer. In summer 1979 he joined Crystal Palace for £650,000 where he played 56 games scoring 8 goals. December 1980 saw him join Queens Park Rangers. He was capped three times by England 'B', scoring once. Alderman Michael Flanagan (29 September 1833 – 16 October 1931), known as "the Alderman", was a farmer, market gardener, justice of the peace and Irish nationalist politician and long-time member of Dublin Corporation, setting the record for the longest tenure on the corporation at that time, retiring at the age of 86. A member of the corporation from 1884 to 1919, Flanagan is said to have turned down the Lord Mayoralty of Dublin in 1900 because as a nationalist he did not wish to receive Queen Victoria on her visit to Ireland. He was listed as a justice of the peace as of 1894. Flanagan was the father of the practical joker Willie "The Bird" Flanagan, and of Louisa Flanagan, wife of the First President of the Executive Council W. T. Cosgrave. Michael Patrick Flanagan (born November 9, 1962) is a former captain in the United States Army, a practicing attorney, and a Republican Party politician from Chicago, Illinois. Flanagan is best known for his victory over eighteen-term Congressman Ways and Means Committee chairman Dan Rostenkowski in the 1994 United States midterm elections. His was one of fifty-four Republican victories in the House of Representatives that allowed the party to take control of both houses of Congress, as part of the Republican Revolution. The Flanagan Brothers were an Irish American band formed in the 1920s which consisted of brothers Michael, Joseph, and Louis Flanagan. Their choice of instruments and related skill gave them a unique sound, which led them to become one of the leading attractions in New York City's Irish dancehalls during the 1920s and 1930s.
