Mike Estabrook (umpire)
Michael Joseph Estabrook (born July 28, 1976) is an American Major League Baseball umpire. He made his first umpiring appearance at the Major League level on May 7, 2006. Estabrook wears uniform number 83. It was announced on January 14, 2014, that Estabrook was added to the full-time MLB Umpire staff. Umpiring career In , Estabrook ejected Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost from a game after Estabrook had confronted Royals catcher Jason Kendall. Later, Yost was quoted as saying, "I'll never let an umpire show up one of my players, and that's exactly what he was doing." Kendall stated, "He got in my face, and it was unprofessional what he did." Estabrook was officially hired to the full-time MLB staff prior to the 2014 season. Umpire (baseball)
In baseball, the umpire is the person charged with referee, officiating the game, including beginning and ending the game, enforcing the rules of the game and the grounds, making judgment calls on plays, and handling the disciplinary actions. The term is often shortened to the colloquial form ump. They are also sometimes addressed as blue at lower levels due to the common color of the uniform worn by umpires. In professional baseball, the term ''blue'' is seldom used by players or managers, who instead call the umpire by name. Although games were often officiated by a sole umpire in the formative years of the sport, since the turn of the 20th century, officiating has been commonly divided among several umpires, who form the umpiring crew. Jason Daniel Kendall (born June 26, 1974) is an American former professional baseball catcher. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1996 through 2010 for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers, and Kansas City Royals. He is the son of former catcher Fred Kendall, who played in the majors from 1969–1980. Edgar Frederick Yost III (; born August 19, 1954) is a former Major League Baseball catcher and manager of the Milwaukee Brewers and Kansas City Royals. He played for the Brewers, Texas Rangers, and Montreal Expos. Early life Yost was born on California's North Coast in Eureka. Yost attended and played baseball at Dublin High School in Dublin, California. He had significant difficulty hitting prior to his junior and senior years, yet improved after building physical strength by working as a pot-scrubber at a Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant. Lazaro Antonio Díaz Sr. (born March 29, 1963) is an American umpire in Major League Baseball wearing number 63, a reference to his year of birth. He joined the American League's full-time staff in 1999, and has worked throughout both major leagues since 2000. Díaz was promoted to crew chief for the 2022 season, becoming the second full time Latino-born crew chief, after Alfonso Marquez.
