Mihri Pektaş
Mihri İffet Pektaş (1895 – 4 July 1979), also known as Mihri Bektaş, was a Turkish school teacher and former politician. She is known as one of the first 18 female parliament members of Turkey. Mihri İffet was born in Bursa, then Ottoman Empire. In 1916, she graduated from Arnavutköy American High School for Girls in İstanbul. After graduation, she taught Turkish in the same institution between 1916 and1918. After 1920, she began teaching English in various schools in İstanbul. She was also a part-time nurse. She was married to Hüseyin Pektaş, vice principal of Robert College, and interpreter of the Turkish delegation at the Conference of Lausanne during 1922 and 1923. She was mother of two. Mihri Belli
Mihri Belli (December 1915 – 16 August 2011) was a prominent leader of the socialist movement in Turkey. He fought for the communist side in the Greek Civil War. Belli was repeatedly prosecuted and sentenced to prison for his political views, and was altogether imprisoned for 11 years, and forced into exile for another 18. Belli wrote several influential books on the Turkish left and was, for many years, a source of inspiration for leftist Turkish youths. Early life Belli was born in 1916 in Silivri, then in the Ottoman Empire, to Mahmut Hayrettin Bey, later a prominent leader of the Turkish War of Independence in Urfa. He was educated at Robert College in Istanbul, and in 1936 went on to study economics at the University of Mississippi in the United States. Mihri Hatun
Mihri Hatun, also known as Lady Mihri and Mihri Khatun (born ca. 1460 – died 1506 AD; مهری خاتون), was an Ottoman poet. She was the daughter of a ''kadi'' (an Ottoman judge) and according to sources she spent most of her life in and near Amasya, in Anatolia.Havlioglu, 2 Documentation places her as a member of the literary circle of Prince Ahmed, the son of Sultan Bayezid II.Lewis, 207 The myth that has grown up around her states that she “fell in love many times but insists that all these loves were chaste and innocent, and that she led a life of unremitting virtue.” Lewis notes that though described as both “beautiful and ardent, she remained unmarried.” However, because the major sources on her life, tezkires, were written by male contemporaries who over emphasized virginity and sexuality as indicitive of her morality, it is impossible to interpret the extent to which she was innocent and chaste. Mihri Müşfik Hanım ( ota, مهری مشفیق خانم; born Mihri Rasim Achba; 26 February 1886 – 1954) was an Abkhazian princess and painter who became one of the first and most renowned female painters in Turkey. She was recognized especially for her portraits, including popular figures Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Pope Benedict XV. Early life and education Mihri Müşfik Hanım was born on 26 February 1886 in the Rasim Pasha Mansion, Baklatarlası neighborhood of Kadıköy in Istanbul. She was a member of Abkhazian princely family, Achba. Her father was Prince Dr. Ahmed Rasim Pasha, an anatomy specialist, and a preeminent instructor in the Military School of Medicine.
