Mihkel Kirves
Mihkel Kirves (born 6 December 1996) is an Estonian professional basketball player for BC Pärnu of the Latvian-Estonian Basketball League. Standing at 1.98 m (6 ft 6 in), he plays at the small forward position. Professional career Kirves debuted in the Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML) in the 2012–13 season with BC Pärnu. He was named KML Best Defender in 2017 and 2018. The small forward (SF), also known as the three or swingman, is one of the five positions in a regulation basketball game. Small forwards are typically shorter, quicker, and leaner than power forwards and centers but taller, larger, and stronger than either of the guard positions. Estonia Men's National Basketball Team
The Estonia men's national basketball team ( et, Eesti korvpallikoondis) represents Estonia in international basketball matches. They are controlled by the Estonian Basketball Association. The 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup was the 18th tournament of the FIBA Basketball World Cup for men's national basketball teams. The 2012–13 G4S Korvpalli Meistriliiga was the 88th season of the Estonian basketball league and the fourth under the title sponsorship of G4S. Kalev/Cramo came into the season as defending champions of the 2011–12 KML season. Latvian-Estonian Basketball League
The Latvian-Estonian Basketball League is the highest professional men's club basketball league in Latvia and Estonia; it has been organised since 2018, run by the Latvian Basketball Association and the Estonian Basketball Association. History The league was established in 2018 when the Latvijas Basketbola līga (LBL) and Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML) merged. In its inaugural season, 15 teams participated in the league. The Korvpalli Meistriliiga ( en, Basketball Champions League), known as the OlyBet Korvpalli Meistriliiga for sponsorship reasons, is the highest tier level and most important professional basketball league in Estonia. It is controlled by the Estonian Basketball Association. The first Estonian Basketball Championship tournament was held in 1925. During Soviet era (1941–1991) the league was called the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic Championship. After Estonia regained its independence in 1991, the league was reformed as the Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML). The KML, which is played under FIBA rules, currently consists of eight teams.
