Mihir Kumar Nandi
Mihir Kumar Nandi (14 December 1945 – 6 May 2017) was a Bangladeshi Rabindra Sangeet singer and classical vocalist. He was a singer at the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra during the 1971 Liberation War. In 2015, he was awarded Shilpakala Padak in the vocal music category by the Government of Bangladesh. Early life Nandi was born in Chittagong to Fanindra Lal Nandi and Mallika Rani Nandi. He got his early music lessons from his father. Later he was trained by Waheedul Haq, Shailada Ranjan Majumder, Nirod Baran Barua, Ashok Dasgupta, Soumitra Lal Dasgupta and Aditya Narayan Das. Career In 1964, Nandi's musical career began by enlisting as a singer with Chittagong Betar. Nandi was an artist of special class at Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television. Satkania Upazila
Satkania ( bn, সাতকানিয়া) is an upazila of Chattogram District in Chattogram Division, Bangladesh. Geography Satkania has a total area of 280.99 km2. It is bounded by Chandanaish Upazila on the north, Lohagara Upazila on the south, Bandarban Sadar upazila on the east, Banshkhali and Anwara Upazilas on the west. Bangladesh Television
Bangladesh Television ( bn, বাংলাদেশ টেলিভিশন), commonly known by its acronym BTV ( bn, বিটিভি), is the state-owned television network of Bangladesh. The network was originally established as the East Pakistan branch of PTV in 1964. It is the oldest Bengali-language television network in the world, and is the sister to the radio broadcaster Bangladesh Betar, which, along with BTV, are both owned and operated by the government. Bangladesh Television is the country's only television network provided on terrestrial television. It is primarily financed through television licence fees. Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi ( bn, বাংলাদেশ উদীচী শিল্পীগোষ্ঠী) is the largest cultural organisation in Bangladesh. The organisation's goal is the struggle to build what it deems a just, free, and equal society. It was organised in East Pakistan by revolutionary novelists Satyen Sen, Ranesh Das Gupta along with numerous youths in 1968, and through 1971 it operated a cultural campaign. Bangladesh Betar
Bangladesh Betar ( bn, বাংলাদেশ বেতার; ), or BB is the state-owned radio broadcaster of Bangladesh, initially established as the Dhaka station of All India Radio in 1939. It was later made part of Radio Pakistan. After the independence of the country in 1971, Radio Pakistan ceased transmissions there and the Swadhin Bangla Betar Kendra was renamed to Bangladesh Betar, which took full control of all radio stations in the country at the time. Bangladesh Betar is a sister service to Bangladesh Television, which is also state-owned. It operates several AM and FM stations around Bangladesh. Chittagong District
Chittagong District, renamed the Chattogram District, is a district located in the south-eastern region of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chattogram Division. The port city of Chattogram, which is the second largest city in Bangladesh, is located within this district. History Because of the natural harbour, Chattogram had been an important location for trade, drawing Arab traders as early as the 9th century CE. The region fell under the rule of kings from Arakan in the 16th and 17th centuries, but later, the Mughal Army under Shaista Khan conquered Chattogram. During the 17th century, the region also faced a lot of attacks by Portuguese pirates. The Mughals established Chattogram as a district in 1666. Waheedul Haq
Waheedul Haq (March 16, 1933 – January 27, 2007) was a journalist, writer, and musicologist of Tagore songs. Early life Haq was born on March 16, 1933, at Bhawal Monoharia village under Keraniganj Upazila. His father, Mazharul Haq, was a member of Bengal legislative assembly in 1946. His mother was Mewa Begum. Waheedul was the eldest of three brothers and two sisters. His brother Rezaul Haq is a journalist and another brother Ziaul Haq was a martyr in 1971. Haq grew up in the old part of Dhaka city and was educated in the Dhaka College. He married Sanjida Khatun and had three children: Apala Farhat Naved (late), Partha Tanveer Naved, and Ruchira Tabassum Naved. Career Haq and other activists founded Chhayanaut in 1961.
