Miguel Ángel Villarroya
Miguel Ángel Villarroya Vilalta (born 15 May 1957) is a Spanish Air and Space Force general who served as the 11th Chief of the Defence Staff of Spain from 2020 to 2021. Before this, from 2017 to 2020 he was the Chief of the Technical Cabinet of the Defence Ministers María Dolores de Cospedal (2017–2018) and Margarita Robles (2018–2020). Biography Early life and education Villarroya was born in La Galera, in the province of Tarragona on May 15, 1957. He got his civil pilot license at the age of 17. A year later, he joined the General Air Force Academy in San Javier, where he started his military studies, obtaining its lieutenant rank in 1980, at the 32nd promotion. He has also General Staff studies. Villarroya has more than 9,800 flying hours mainly with the Lockheed C-130 Hercules. La Galera
La Galera is a municipality in the comarca Montsià, in the province of Tarragona, Catalonia, Spain. In 2009 its population was 884. La Galera is part of the Taula del Sénia free association of municipalities. History Although it has not been possible to prove it with documents, some historians believe that La Galera has an ancient Roman origin. However, the earliest documentary evidence about the town is in 1320 when James II of Aragon authorized the control of the village known as ''Pobla de la Galera'' to the Archbishop of Tortosa. Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón (; born 29 February 1972) is a Spanish politician who has been Prime Minister of Spain since June 2018. He has also been Secretary-General of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) since June 2017, having previously held that office from 2014 to 2016. Sánchez began his political career in 2004 as a city councillor in Madrid, before being elected to the Congress of Deputies in 2009. In 2014 he was elected Secretary-General of the PSOE, becoming Leader of the Opposition. Civil Guard (Spain)
The Civil Guard ( es, Guardia Civil, link=no; ) is the oldest law enforcement agency in Spain and is one of two national police forces. As a national gendarmerie force, it is military in nature and is responsible for civil policing under the authority of both the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Defence. The role of the Ministry of Defence is limited except in times of war when the Ministry has exclusive authority. The corps is colloquially known as the ' (reputable). The Cross of Aeronautical Merit ( es, Cruces del Mérito Aeronáutico) is Spain's military award for gallantry or merit in the air. The award can be made in war or at times of peace. The Royal and Military Order of Saint Hermenegild ( es, Real y Militar Orden de San Hermenegildo) is both a general military honor and a legion created by Ferdinand VII of Spain on 28 November 1814. The Royal and Military Order of Saint Hermenegild is a military distinction of the Spanish Cavalry created by Ferdinand VII of Spain at the conclusion of the Spanish War of Independence in 1814.
