Miguel Ángel Toma
Miguel Ángel Toma (born September 18, 1949) is an Argentina, Argentine Justicialist Party politician. Biography Toma earned degrees in philosophy and theology at the San Miguel, Buenos Aires, San Miguel campus of the Jesuit Universidad del Salvador. He was an early supporter of Antonio Cafiero's Peronist Renewal faction within the Justicialist Party, and was elected to the Argentine Chamber of Deputies for the City of Buenos Aires in 1985. He served in the defense and security committees. His party list lost the 1997 congressional primaries to Daniel Scioli's, however, who enjoyed the support of President of Argentina, President Carlos Menem, and Toma consequently left Congress. Supported by close Menem adviser José Luis Manzano, Toma was appointed Secretary of Security by Menem in 1998. Daniel Scioli
Daniel Osvaldo Scioli (, ; born 13 January 1957) is an Argentine politician, sportsman, and businessman. He was Vice President of Argentina from 2003 to 2007 and Governor of Buenos Aires Province from 2011 to 2015. From 2020 to 2022 he was Argentina's ambassador to Brazil. Since 2022, he has been the country's Minister of Production in the cabinet of Alberto Fernández. He has also served two tenures as president of the Justicialist Party. He was the candidate to the presidency for the Front for Victory ticket in the 2015 general elections, and lost to Mauricio Macri in a runoff election. AMIA Bombing
The AMIA bombing occurred on 18 July 1994 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and targeted the Asociación Mutual Israelita Argentina (AMIA; ), a Jewish Community Centre. Executed as a suicidal attack, a bomb-laden van was driven into the AMIA building and subsequently detonated, killing 85 people and injuring over 300. To date, the bombing remains the deadliest terrorist attack in Argentine history. Argentina is home to a Jewish community of 230,000, making it the largest in Latin America and the sixth-largest in the world outside of Israel. Over the years, the AMIA bombing has been marked by accusations of cover-ups.
