Miguel Reale Júnior
Miguel Reale Júnior (born 18 April 1944) is a Brazilian jurist, politician, professor and lawyer. He was professor of Criminal Law at University of São Paulo (USP) and Minister of Justice in the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso. Reale is son of the also jurist Miguel Reale and gained notoriety in 2015 when he proposed, along with jurists Hélio Bicudo and Janaína Paschoal, an impeachment request against president Dilma Rousseff. Career Miguel Reale Júnior graduate in law in 1968 at the Law School of the University of São Paulo, where he also graduated with a Doctor's degree in 1971 with the thesis "''Dos estados de necessidade''" (English: "''Of the states of necessity''"). The Order of Attorneys of Brazil (, OAB) is the Brazilian Bar Association. Founded in 1930, it is responsible for the regulation of the legal profession in the country. Its national headquarters are in Brasília, Federal District. The OAB has 1,065,304 lawyers (2018). This number rose to 1,211,309 as of early 2021. Its early origins are found on a private institution founded in 1843. The Chamber of Deputies () is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current president of the chamber is the Deputy Hugo Motta ( Republicanos- PB), who was elected on 1 February 2025. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population.
