Miguel Delaney
Miguel Delaney is a Spanish-Irish football journalist and author. He is the chief football writer at ''The Independent''. Career Whilst working in his native Ireland with the '' Sunday Tribune,'' Delaney was nominated for Young Journalist of the year at the National Media Awards, and was later nominated for the NNI Sports Journalist of the year award. After starting at The Tribune Delaney went on to write for ''ESPN'', Ireland's '' Sunday Independent'', the pages of ''The Blizzard'', ''Eurosport'', ''The Daily Mirror'', and ''The Belfast Telegraph''. He is the author of ''Stuttgart to Saipan: The Players' Stories'' which covered Ireland's qualification for international tournaments in 1988, 1990, 1994 and 2002; the book made the long list for the William Hill Irish Sports Book of the Year and included interviews with the likes of Liam Brady, Pat Bonner and Mark Lawrenson. The William Hill Irish Sports Book of the Year was an annual Irish literary award sponsored by bookmakers William Hill. Established in 2006, it was related to the International William Hill Sports Book of the Year (est. 1989). The award sought to honour sports books produced in Ireland. The award lost its sponsorship after 2011 and has been discontinued. History The inaugural winner of the William Hill Irish Sports Book of the Year in 2006 was Irish footballer Paul McGrath whose autobiography '' Back from the Brink'' described his football career and his battle with alcoholism. Ian Edward Wright (born 3 November 1963) is an English television and radio personality and former professional footballer. He works as a pundit for BBC Sport and ITV Sport. Wright enjoyed success with London clubs Crystal Palace and Arsenal as a forward, spending six years with the former and seven years with the latter. Christopher Roy Sutton (born 10 March 1973) is an English former professional football player and manager. He later became a pundit and commentator for BT Sport, regularly working on their coverage of Scottish football. He is now also a pundit and occasional match co-commentator on BBC Radio 5 Live. He played as a forward from 1991 to 2007 for Norwich City, Blackburn Rovers, Chelsea, Celtic, Birmingham City and Aston Villa.
