Mier, Indiana
Mier is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Richland Township, Grant County, Indiana, in the United States. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 78. History The community was named after Ciudad Mier, in Mexico. A post office was established at Mier in 1849, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1928. Geography Mier is located in northwestern Grant County, crossed by State Roads 13, 18, and 19. State Road 18 leads east to Sweetser and west to Converse, while State Road 13 leads north to Somerset and south to Swayzee. State Road 19 follows State Road 13 south from Mier and State Road 18 west from it. Marion, the Grant County seat, is to the east via State Road 18. Marion, Indiana
Marion is a city in Grant County, Indiana, United States. The population was 29,948 as of the 2010 United States Census. The city is the county seat of Grant County. It is named for Francis Marion, a brigadier general from South Carolina in the American Revolutionary War. The city is home to Indiana Wesleyan University, the largest evangelical Christian university in the Midwest and Indiana's largest private university, when online and regional campuses in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Illinois are included. The traditional campus enrolls about 2,800 students. Since 2016, Jess Alumbaugh has been Marion's mayor. Marion is the birthplace of actor James Dean and cartoonist Jim Davis. Swayzee is a town in Sims Township, Grant County, Indiana, United States. The population was 981 at the 2010 census. On its welcome sign, Swayzee claims to be "the only Swayzee in the world." This motto is based on a story about a postcard sent by a serviceman overseas during World War II, which although being addressed only to "Swayzee", with no mention of Indiana or any other information, was still said to have been successfully delivered. Sweetser is a town in Franklin, Pleasant and Richland townships, Grant County, Indiana, United States. The population was 1,229 at the 2010 census. Geography Sweetser is located at (40.569731, -85.766972) on State Road 18 between the town of Converse and the city of Marion. Running through the edge of Sweetser is a small body of water, or creek, known as Pipe Creek. Pipe Creek is one of the sites that can be seen from the Sweetser Switch Trail. State Road 19 (SR 19) is a route on the Indiana State Highway System that runs between Noblesville and Elkhart in the US state of Indiana. The of Indiana SR 19 serve as a minor highway. State Road 13 (SR 13) is a north–south state road in the US state of Indiana. The southern terminus is at an intersection with U.S. Highway 36 (US 36) and SR 67, in the town of Fortville, and its northern terminus is at the Michigan state line. Ciudad Mier
Mier (), also known as ''El Paso del Cántaro'', is a city in Mier Municipality in Tamaulipas, located in northern Mexico near the Rio Grande, just south of Falcon Dam. It is northeast of Monterrey on Mexican Federal Highway 2. (26°28'N 99°10'W) In 1990, the population was recorded at 6,190. By the 2010 census, it had dropped to 4,762 inhabitants. It has an agricultural economy centered on cotton, sugar cane, corn, and livestock. History The town was founded on March 6, 1753. The land was originally owned by Felix de Almandoz.
