Midtown is a mixed-use development district under development in Dallas, Texas (USA). The area is located in North Dallas, bordered by Interstate 635 on the south, Dallas North Tollway on the west, Spring Valley Road on the north, and Preston Road on the east. The development is next to Galleria Dallas, an upscale shopping mall, and is located at the southern end of the Platinum Corridor. History A majority of Midtown is being developed on the former site of Valley View Center, originally built in 1973. In 2011, efforts to coordinate the redevelopment of the mall and the surrounding real estate were being coordinated by the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce. In April 2012, new owners of Valley View Center, Beck Ventures, announced a $4 billion redevelopment plan for the mall and surrounding property dubbed "Dallas Midtown" that would include retail, condominiums, and a "five star" hotel. The Dallas Police Department, established in 1881, is the principal law enforcement agency serving the city of Dallas, Texas. Interstate 635 (I-635) is a partial loop around Dallas, Texas, in the United States between I-20 in Balch Springs and State Highway 121 (SH 121) at the north entrance of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW Airport) in Grapevine. It intersects I-35E at exits 27B and 27C, but does not connect with I-35W. A small part of I-635 and I-20 is collectively designated as the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway; known locally as the LBJ Freeway, or simply LBJ. The roadway is named after Lyndon B. Johnson, the former US Senator from Texas, 37th Vice President, and the 36th President of the United States. Where I-635 ends at I-20, I-20 continues the LBJ Freeway designation heading west. Central Expressway is a north–south highway in Dallas, Texas (USA) and surrounding areas. The best-known section is the North Central Expressway, a name for a freeway section of U.S. Highway 75 between downtown Dallas and McKinney, Texas. U.S. Route 75 is a major north–south U.S. Highway that extends in the central United States. The highway's northern terminus is in Noyes, Minnesota, at the Canadian border, where it once continued as Manitoba Highway 75 on the other side of the now-closed border crossing. Its southern terminus is at Interstate 30 (I-30) and I-45 in Dallas, where it is known as North Central Expressway.
