Midnight blue is a dark shade of blue named for its resemblance to the apparently blue color of a moonlit night sky around full moon. Midnight blue is identifiably blue to the eye in sunlight or full-spectrum light, but can appear black under certain more limited spectra sometimes found in artificial lighting (especially early 20th-century incandescent). ''Midnight Blue'' is a sexually-themed public access cable television program that aired on Manhattan Cable Television Channel J in New York City. The show debuted in 1974, as ''Screw'' publisher Al Goldstein parlayed his publishing success into a cable access show, a freeform interview program that played on the late night airwaves of Manhattan cable for more than twenty-five years. He regularly included ads from phone sex companies, brothels, and escorts, the only television show to do so. ''Midnight Blue'' was the subject of controversy when Goldstein testified before the United States Supreme Court in 1995 as part of a lawsuit brought against Time Warner Cable's plan to scramble sexually explicit public access programs unless subscribers gave written consent for them. Aura is a type of blue cheese produced in Äänekoski, Finland, by the Finnish dairy company Valio. Aura is made of cow's milk and takes its name from the Aura River, which runs through the city of Turku. The cheese is available in two varieties. "Midnight Blue" is the title of a 1982-3 international hit by Louise Tucker which served as the title cut for Tucker's debut album ''Midnight Blue''. The single also features Charlie Skarbek on vocals. In the spring of 1982 opera singer Louise Tucker met record producer Tim Smit when she accompanied his sister-in-law who'd come to babysit for him: this meeting led to Tucker recording the demo for the track "Midnight Blue" - which utilized the melody of the second movement of "Sonata Pathétique" by Beethoven - with Smit and his friend Charlie Skarbek producing.
