The Midi Music Awards, also called Midi Rock Music Awards or simply Midi Awards () are an annual awards presented by the Beijing Midi School of Music since 2009. Unlike the various Chinese music awards that honors pop music, the Midi Music Awards highlights the outstanding Chinese rock (pop rock, hard rock, metal, folk, etc.) acts of the past calendar year. City Weekend
''City Weekend'' was a free, bi-weekly entertainment event and venue listing magazine based out of China. Its on-line edition was both autonomous and complementary to the print magazine - ''City Weekend'' was "reader-powered" and sources most of its information directly from the expat community. The last publication was in 2018 and they have closed operations in China since then. The website is not maintained anymore. History and profile Founded in 1999, ''City Weekend'' created content related to dining, nightlife, arts, culture, health and wellness, fashion and shopping, local community news, and travel in the English language. It was one of the highest-circulation English magazines in China available free. ''The Beijinger'' (, stylized as "the Beijinger" or "thebeijinger") is a free monthly English language listings and entertainment website and magazine produced by True Run Media in Beijing, China. It was founded in October 2001 as ''that's Beijing''. In June 2008, True Run Media was required to rename ''that's Beijing'' to ''The Beijinger'' because of trademark issues. Beijing Midi School Of Music
The Beijing Midi School of Music (北京迷笛音乐学校; pinyin: Běijīng Mídí Yīnyuè Xuéxiào) is a music school in Beijing, China, established in 1993. It is the first music school in China whose curriculum focuses on such modern musical genres as rock, jazz, blues, pop, Latin, country, funk, and fusion. The school's mission is "to promote an artistic and humanistic theory of modern music while offering students classes in advanced musical techniques." The school sponsors the popular annual Midi Music Festival, which was first held in May 2000 in Beijing, Midi Music Awards and the Beijing Jazz Festival. The School's Dean is Zhang Fan. Pop music is a genre of popular music that originated in its modern form during the mid-1950s in the United States and the United Kingdom. Chinese rock (; also , lit. The Wukesong Arena (), also known as the Cadillac Arena () for sponsorship purposes, is a multipurpose indoor arena in Beijing. It was originally built for the 2008 Summer Olympics basketball preliminaries and finals. Ground was broken on 29 March 2005 and construction was completed on 11 January 2008. The stadium has a capacity of 19,000 and covers an area of 63,000 square metres. It includes a modern, flexible ice hockey rink designed and produced by Finnish rink manufacturer Vepe Oy in November 2016.
