Middlesex Women Cricket Team
The Middlesex Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Middlesex. They play their home games at various grounds, most commonly at Mill Hill School, and are captained by Naomi Dattani. They won Division 2 of the Women's County Championship in 2019 and won the Women's Twenty20 Cup in 2018. They are partnered with the regional side Sunrisers. History 1935–1996: Early History Middlesex Women played their first recorded match in 1935, against Civil Service Women, and went on to play various one-off games over the following years, most often against surrounding teams such as Surrey Women. Naomi Dattani
Naomi Dilip Dattani (born 28 April 1994) is an English professional cricketer who plays for and captains Middlesex Women, as well as playing for North West Thunder and London Spirit. She previously played for Surrey Stars, Western Storm and Sunrisers. In 2020, she was one of 25 players awarded regional retainer contracts by the England and Wales Cricket Board. She started playing cricket at the age of 10 for a local cricket club, Perivale Phoenicians Cricket Club. Life and career Dattani was born in Ealing, Greater London, on 28 April 1994. She attended Greenford High School in Ealing, and then studied Sports Science at Loughborough University. The Women's London Cup (previously the Pemberton Greenish Cup) is an English cricket competition played as a one-off Twenty20 match between Middlesex and Surrey each year since 2015. It was conceived by Surrey's Director of Women's Cricket Ebony Rainford-Brent. Middlesex won the first five editions, before Surrey won at the sixth time of asking in 2020. Leg Spin
Leg spin is a type of spin bowling in cricket. A leg spinner bowls right-arm with a wrist spin action. The leg spinner's normal delivery causes the ball to spin from right to left (from the bowler's perspective) when the ball bounces on the pitch. For a right-handed batsman, that is away from the leg side, and this is where it gets the name leg break. Leg spinners bowl mostly leg breaks, varying them by adjusting the line and length, and amount of side spin versus topspin of the deliveries. Leg spinners also typically use variations of flight by sometimes looping the ball in the air, allowing any cross-breeze and the aerodynamic effects of the spinning ball to cause the ball to dip and drift before bouncing and spinning or "turning", sharply. Devon Women Cricket Team
The Devon Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Devon. They play their home games at various grounds across the county, including Knighthayes Court, Bolham and the County Ground, Exeter. They are captained by Steph Hutchins. In 2019, they played in Division Two of the final season of the Women's County Championship, and have since competed in the Women's Twenty20 Cup. They are partnered with the regional side Western Storm. History Devon Women joined the County Challenge Cup in 2005, finishing 2nd in their group in their first season. Amara Danielle Carr (born 17 April 1994) is an English cricketer who currently plays for Middlesex, Sunrisers and London Spirit. She plays as a wicket-keeper and right-handed batter. She previously played for Devon. Early life Carr was born on 17 April 1994 in Plymouth, Devon. She attended the University of Exeter, where she graduated with a degree in sports science. In 2016, she won the ECB's Young Coach of the Year award. Domestic career Carr made her county debut for Devon in 2008, at the age of 14, in which she scored 13 runs in a victory over Cornwall. Left-arm orthodox spin, Left-arm off spin also known as slow left-arm orthodox spin bowling, is a type of Finger spin, left-arm finger spin bowling (cricket), bowling in the sport of cricket. Left-arm orthodox spin is bowled by a left-arm bowler finger spin, using the fingers to spin the ball from right to left of the cricket pitch (from the bowler's perspective).
