Middleport is a residential and industrial district of the town of Burslem in the city of Stoke-on-Trent, England. Middleport lies to the west of Burslem, between Burslem town centre and the Newcastle-under-Lyme district of Porthill. To the north is Tunstall and to the south Cobridge and Etruria. Middleport conjoins Longport. Middleport is primarily residential, with distinctive Victorian terraced houses. It is part of the Buffalo–Niagara Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Village of Middleport lies on the eastern edge of Niagara County, mostly inside the boundaries of the Town of Royalton, but a small part is within the Town of Hartland. Middleport is a port on the Erie Canal. History Settlers began moving into the area ''circa'' 1808. The first store opened in the future village in 1822, before the canal reached the community. History Middleport was founded during the 1820s, a time of great prosperity and rapidly increasing commerce in Meigs County.
