William Scott Middlebrooks (born September 9, 1988) is an American former professional baseball third baseman. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Boston Red Sox on May 2, 2012, and played with them through 2014. He also played in MLB for the San Diego Padres, Milwaukee Brewers and Texas Rangers. A fifth round draft pick in the 2007 MLB draft out of Liberty-Eylau High School in Texarkana, Texas, Middlebrooks signed with the Red Sox for $925,000, bypassing his commitment to Texas A&M University. Middlebrooks was originally a shortstop, but the Red Sox converted him into a third baseman in the minor leagues. He represented the United States in the 2011 All-Star Futures Game. Following Middlebrooks' emergence as the Red Sox's starting third baseman in 2012, the organization traded former All-Star Kevin Youkilis. Murder Of Kerrick Majors
On April 26, 1987, Kerrick Majors, a 14-year-old African-American boy, was tortured and murdered by three white drifters during a racially motivated hate crime in East Nashville, Tennessee. Majors was attacked by the trio after he and his friends accidentally broke a $2 vase at a flea market. Majors was kidnapped, tortured, beaten, and stabbed to death, while his attackers yelled racial slurs at him. His body was found the following day. Donald Ray Middlebrooks, Tammy Middlebrooks, and Robert Brewington, all white, were convicted of his murder. Donald Middlebrooks, considered the ringleader, was sentenced to death, while Tammy Middlebrooks and Brewington received life sentences. The police were criticized for their handling of the case and were accused of being racially biased. Levy Middlebrooks (born February 4, 1966) is an American former professional basketball player. He is best known for college career at Pepperdine University, however, from 1984 to 1988. A native of San Francisco, California, Middlebrooks attended St. Ignatius College Preparatory and was a standout player for the Wildcats. He earned a scholarship to play for the Waves and thus he enrolled in the fall of 1984. During his freshman year he helped lead them to a West Coast Athletic Conference championship and a berth into the 1985 NCAA Tournament, where Pepperdine would lose in the first round. Middlebrooks was named the WCAC Freshman of the Year. The following season, the Waves once again won the WCAC, qualified for the 1986 NCAA Tournament, and lost in the first round. Willie Frank Middlebrooks (born February 12, 1979) is a former cornerback of the National Football League (NFL) and Canadian Football League (CFL). Middlebrooks was named First-Team All-State as a senior at Homestead High School in Homestead, Florida. He played college football for the Minnesota Golden Gophers. In 1999, he was named Second-Team All-Big Ten. In 2000, he was named First-Team All-Big Ten Conference, but missed the final four games of the season with a fractured ankle. Prior to the 2001 NFL Draft, he was regarded as the best man-coverage player in the Big Ten, with speculation that he would be drafted in the first round, despite his recent injury.
