Midalam (sometimes known as Udayamarthandam) is a village in Killiyur block in Kaniyakumari District of Tamil Nadu, India. It is located 27 km towards west from District headquarters Nagercoil, 741 km from State capital Chennai, 55 km from Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala. It shares border with Enayam and Thengapattanam at the west, Kurumpanai and Colachel at the east, Karungal at the north and Arabian Sea to the south. Thengapattanam
Thengapattanam (also referred to as "Thengapattinam", thennaipattinam" and "thenpattinam" ), named after dense coconut grooves, is a major trade and tourism centre in the painkulam panchayath along the coastal plains of Kanyakumari district. Thengapattanam, once part of Travancore and later Kerala, was added to Tamil Nadu on 1 November 1956 along with some parts of today's Kanniyakumari District. Etymology Thengappattanam derives its name from the abundance of coconut groves sprout along the vast estuary, meaning the town/city with coconut trees in abundance. Nagercoil, also spelt as Nagarkovil ("Temple of the Nāgas", or Nagaraja-Temple), is a city and the administrative headquarters of Kanyakumari District in Tamil Nadu state, India. Padmanabhapuram is a town and a municipality near Thuckalay in Kanyakumari district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. As of 2011, the town had a population of 21,342. History Padmanabhapuram was the erstwhile capital of the Kingdom of Travancore (now part of India). Colachel is a coastal town in the far south of India, located within the administrative jurisdiction of Kanyakumari District. It is a natural harbor on the Malabar coast, located 20 km north-west of Kanyakumari ( Cape Comorin), the southernmost tip of India.
