MidSun Junior High School
MidSun Junior High School is a Canadian middle school teaching grades seven through nine for the communities of Midnapore, Chaparral and Sundance, in Calgary, Alberta. It is part of the public Calgary Board of Education. When opened in 1998 it was designed with a capacity of 750 students, and quickly gained enrollment of slightly less, or slightly more, than that figure. The need for a new junior high school (middle school) to alleviate busing concerns arose in 1996. The efforts of the community were met with success, and the school was opened for the fall of 1998. In 2006, students started coming from the community of Lake Chaparral. Currently, students graduating from MidSun Junior High attend Centennial High School. The school has a Learning Resource Center (LRC), designed for special needs students. It also has a French as a Second Language program. Calgary School District No. 19 or the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) is the public school board in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. As a public system, the CBE is required to accept any students who meet age and residency requirements, regardless of religion. Midnapore is a community within the City of Calgary in the province of Alberta, Canada. It is bounded to the north and east by Fish Creek Provincial Park, to the south by Sun Valley Boulevard and to the west by Macleod Trail. History Midnapore was once an unincorporated hamlet under the jurisdiction of the Municipal District of Turner Valley No. 32. The Hamlet of Midnapore and adjoining lands were annexed by the City of Calgary on December 30, 1961. Following annexation, Midnapore was established as a neighbourhood in 1977. Chaparral is a residential neighbourhood in the southeast quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. It is located at the southern edge of the city, south of the Stoney Trail. To the east it is bordered by the Bow River Valley, to the south by 194 Avenue SE, and to the west by Macleod Trail.
