Mid-City West is a subregion in the western part of the Central Los Angeles region, served by the Mid City West Neighborhood Council. Geography It encompasses the area: * South of Santa Monica Boulevard, Beverly Boulevard, Willoughby Avenue, Romaine Street, West 6th Street, and Wilshire Boulevard. * West of La Brea Avenue. * North of San Vicente Boulevard, Olympic Boulevard, the Pico-Robertson neighborhood border ( Olympic Boulevard and San Vicente Boulevard), Burton Way, and Clifton Way. * East of Doheny Drive, North Kings Road, North Sweetzer Avenue, La Cienega Boulevard, Schumacher Drive, Robertson Boulevard, San Vicente Boulevard, and North Gardner Street. Carthay Circle, Los Angeles
Carthay Circle is a neighborhood in the Mid-City West region of Central Los Angeles, California. Originally named Carthay Center, the neighborhood was later re-named after the famed Carthay Circle Theatre. Geography The neighborhood is bounded by Wilshire Boulevard to the north, Olympic Boulevard to the south, Fairfax Avenue to the east and Schumacher Drive on the west. Miracle Mile is a neighborhood in the city of Los Angeles, California. It contains a stretch of Wilshire Boulevard known as Museum Row. It also contains two Historic Preservation Overlay Zones: The Miracle Mile and the Miracle Mile North HPOZ. Melrose Avenue
Melrose Avenue is a shopping, dining and entertainment destination in Los Angeles that starts at Santa Monica Boulevard, at the border between Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. It ends at Lucile Avenue in Silver Lake. Melrose runs north of Beverly Boulevard and south of Santa Monica Boulevard. South Carthay is a neighborhood in Central Los Angeles, California. Located south of Carthay Circle,''The Thomas Guide,'' 2008, page 633 South Carthay was developed in the 1930s by Spyros George Ponty. Geography The neighborhood is bounded by Olympic Boulevard on the north, La Cienega Boulevard on the west, Pico Boulevard on the south, and Crescent Heights Boulevard on the east. History The South Carthay area became a portion of the City of Los Angeles on February 28, 1922. Residential development in the area began during the early 1930s on land that previously grew produce for Ralphs markets. Greek developer Spyros George Ponty worked with architect Alan Ruoff to design 147 modest Mediterranean-style homes in the area. While the builder's influence is found in Westwood, Norwalk, Beverly Hills, South-Central Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley, South Carthay's Spanish Colonial Revival homes represents one of his earliest legacies.
