Microtech Knives
Microtech Knives, Inc. is a knife manufacturing company, famous for its automatic knives, that was founded in Vero Beach, Florida in 1994, and operated there until relocating to Bradford, Pennsylvania in 2005 and to Fletcher, North Carolina in 2009. The company expanded the location of its Corporate Headquarters in nearby Mills River, NC in 2018. Microtech now has two active manufacturing factories and one corporate headquarters location. The company has long promoted itself as stressing quality with regard to tight machining tolerances, to within one thousandth of an inch (0.001"). Microtech has designed knives for use by the US Military such as the HALO, UDT, SOCOM and Currahee models. Bob Terzuola
Robert G. Terzuola is an American knife maker who popularized the type of knife known as the tactical folding knife. Early life Terzuola was born in Brooklyn, New York on 14 September 1944. He attended Stuyvesant High School where his academic achievements earned him a full scholarship to New York University where he studied vocational education. Upon graduation in 1966 he joined the Peace Corps and went to Panama as a volunteer for two years, after which he was invited to become a Peace Corps trainer in Puerto Rico. He worked as a field supervisor for several experimental education projects in Guatemala and in the mid-eighties, directed the War Damage Surveys in El Salvador and Guatemala for AID's Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance. The SHOT Show , which is an acronym for "Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade Show", is an American annual trade show for the shooting sports, hunting, outdoor recreations and firearm manufacturing industries. The STG-556 is a Steyr AUG clone formerly manufactured by Microtech Small Arms Research (MSAR). It was available in civilian and military/law enforcement (select-fire) variants. History It was introduced at the 2007 SHOT Show. The first few STG-556 rifles were chambered in .223 Caliber. MSAR closed down permanently on March 20, 2015. No specific reasons were stated on their website, but it is well known that Steyr setting up a US based manufacturing arm, producing genuine Steyr AUG firearms, all but eliminated the need for anyone to buy a clone. When MSAR started, and for several years following, there was no way for a US Resident to buy a new Steyr AUG, only AUGs (and USRs) that had been imported prior to the final Clinton executive order which banned further importation of the neutered USR.
