Raymond Mickey McDonald (born June 2, 1995) is an American professional baseball outfielder who is a free agent. Early life Raymond Mickey McDonald was born on June 2, 1995, in San Mateo, California. He attended Junípero Serra High School in San Mateo, California, where he excelled in baseball. College career McDonald attended the University of Illinois Chicago and played college baseball for the UIC Flames. Professional career Draft and minor leagues McDonald was drafted by the Oakland Athletics in the 18th round of the 2017 Major League Baseball draft. He played in 36 games during his first professional season, splitting time between the AZL Athletics and the Low-A Vermont Lake Monsters. In 2018, McDonald spent the year with the Single-A Beloit Snappers, slashing .284/.356/.353 with 2 home runs and 25 RBI in 110 games for the team. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. As an outfielder, their duty is to catch fly balls and ground balls then to return them to the infield for the out or before the runner advances, if there are any runners on the bases. As an outfielder, they normally play behind the six players located in the field. By convention, each of the nine defensive positions in baseball is numbered. The outfield positions are 7 (left field), 8 (center field) and 9 (right field). These numbers are shorthand designations useful in baseball scorekeeping and are not necessarily the same as the squad numbers worn on player uniforms. Stockton Ports
The Stockton Ports are a Minor League Baseball team of the California League and the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. They are located in Stockton, California, and are named for the city's seaport. The team plays its home games at Banner Island Ballpark which opened in 2005 and seats over 5,000 people. The Ports were established in 1941 as members of the California League and have won the California League championship 11 times. History Baseball first came to Stockton in the 1860s. At the time, Stockton fielded a team in an earlier incarnation of the California League. In 1888, the Stockton team won the California League pennant with a record of 41–12.
