Mickey Joe Harte
Michael Joseph "Mickey Joe" Harte (born 21 August 1973), is an Irish singer-songwriter. He represented Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003 with the song " We've Got the World". Early life Harte hails from Lifford, County Donegal. As a teenager during the 1980s Harte had an epiphany – "Because the moment I lifted a guitar and wrote my first song I knew I was creative", he has said. He started playing guitar at the age of 13. His first song, called "Candlelight", was inspired by Operation Desert Storm, the 1991 U.S invasion of Iraq. He later paid for the recording of his first extended play (EP). His mother, a poet, has had her work set to music by her son. Lifford
Lifford (, historically anglicised as ''Liffer'') is the county town of County Donegal, Ireland, the administrative centre of the county and the seat of Donegal County Council, although the town of Letterkenny is often mistaken as holding this role. Lifford lies in the Finn Valley area of East Donegal where the River Finn meets the River Mourne to create the River Foyle. The Burn Dale (also spelled as the Burn Deele), which flows through Ballindrait, flows into the River Foyle on the northern outskirts of Lifford. Ireland was represented by Chris Doran and the song "If My World Stopped Turning" in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004. Before Eurovision You're a Star RTÉ used the '' You're a Star'' talent contest to select the Irish entry for the Eurovision. The competition started on 16 November 2003. Thirteen artists participated in the finals, which ended on 6 and 7 March 2004. Ten out of 13 finalists were chosen through regional audition heats and the jury gave wildcards to the remaining three. Christopher Doran (born 22 November 1979) is an Irish singer from Waterford. He was the winner of Ireland's '' You're a Star'' 2003-2004 talent search competition to find Ireland's Eurovision Song Contest entry. The competition held auditions throughout Ireland, and the winners went through to the final stages, with one act eventually decided on. The show was aired on RTÉ. He went on to represent Ireland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with "If My World Stopped Turning". Gary O'Shaughnessy represented Ireland in the 2001 Eurovision Song Contest in Copenhagen with the song "Without Your Love". Before Eurovision Eurosong 2001 Eurosong 2001 was the national final format developed by RTÉ in order to select Ireland's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2001. The competition was held at the RTÉ Television Centre in Dublin on 25 February 2001 and hosted by Louise Loughman. Eight artists and songs were initially selected to compete, with regional televoting determining the winner. However, the number of participants was reduced to seven when "Gypsy Blue", written and to have been performed by Thom Moore, was disqualified for having been released before Eurosong, violating the rule that barred songs from being released before the contest. Gary O'Shaughnessy is an Irish singer and musician who represented Ireland in Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song " Without Your Love" finishing 21st out of 23 entries. He's the uncle of Ryan O'Shaughnessy who represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Biography He comes from a very musical family. His grandmother who was a gifted piano and fiddle player. Besides singing, he plays guitar, bass guitar and keyboards. His brother Brian and sister are musicians as well, with his brother playing guitar and his sister the piano. Donegal ( ; , "fort of the foreigners") is a town in County Donegal, Ireland. The name was also historically spelt 'Dunnagall'. Although Donegal gave its name to the county, now Lifford is the county town.
