Mick Scannell
Michael Scannell (born 1949) is an Irish retired Gaelic footballer. His league and championship career with the Cork senior team spanned five seasons from 1969 to 1973. Born in Ballyvourney, County Cork Scannell first played competitive Gaelic football in his youth. He first appeared for the Naomh Abán club at underage levels, winning a host of divisional minor and under-21 championship medals. Scannell subsequently won county junior championship and county intermediate championship medals. As a member of the Muskerry divisional team, he won a county senior championship medal in 1970. Scannell made his debut on the inter-county scene when he was selected on the Cork minor team in 1967. He enjoyed one championship season with the minors won an All-Ireland medal as a non-playing substitute in 1967. Scannell subsequently joined the Cork under-21 team, an All-Ireland medal in 1970. Naomh Abán GAA
Naomh Abán GAA is a Gaelic football club based in the Gaeltacht village of Baile Bhuirne, County Cork, Ireland. It participates in games of the Muskerry division of the Cork GAA. The club has experienced senior grade football within Cork county for many years. It now participates in the Premier Intermediate grade. The club has contributed a number of players to the Cork Gaelic football team. These have included Anthony Lynch, Mícheál Cronin, Gerry Lucey, Gerry Lynch, Mick Scannell, Peadar Healy, and Coleman Twomey. Naomh Abán GAA fields underage boys and girls teams and also has an adult ladies team. The club does not field any hurling teams. The ladies team won the All-Ireland Intermediate title in 2003 making it the most successful team in the history of Naomh Abán. In 2021, Tomás ‘Tiktok’ Keane made his debut for the senior team. Donal Hunt
Donal Hunt (born February 1949) is an Irish retired Gaelic footballer who played for club side Bantry Blues, divisional side Carbery and at inter-county level with the Cork senior football team. Career Born on Bere Island, Hunt later came to prominence during his schooldays at Bantry Vocational School before later lining out with the Bantry Blues club. He won the first of three divisional championship titles in 1968, before later claiming county titles in junior and intermediate. He completed the county set of medals by winning County Senior Championship titles with Carbery in 1968 and 1971. By this stage Hunt had already made an impression on the inter-county scene with Cork and was the holder of All-Ireland medals in minor and under-21. He was added to the Cork senior football team in the autumn of 1967 and won three Munster Championship medals over the course of the following decade. Pat O'Doherty (dual Player)
Patrick O'Doherty (born 1947) is an Irish former hurling, hurler and Gaelic footballer. At club level he played with St Patrick's GAA (Limerick), St Patrick's, Glen Rovers GAA, Glen Rovers and St. Nicholas' GAA, St Nicholas'. O'Doherty also lined out at inter-county level with Limerick GAA, Limerick and Clare GAA, Clare. His brother, Martin O'Doherty, captained Cork to the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, All-Ireland SHC title in 1977.
