Mick O'Dowd
Mick O'Dowd is a former Gaelic footballer and former senior manager for Meath. O'Dowd previously managed his local club Skryne to success in 2004. He was also a member of the panel in 2001 who were defeated by Galway in the All-Ireland final, Galway became the first team to win an All-Ireland having lost in their province. Skryne GFC is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the Village of Skryne, in County Meath, Ireland. The club mainly plays Gaelic Football. It competes in Meath GAA competitions. Skryne has the second most Meath Senior Football Championship titles after Navan O Mahony's. Every All-Ireland Winning Meath team has had a Skryne player as a panel member. Skryne have never been relegated from Senior level in the football championship. 2010 season Skryne finished second in the Senior Football Championship Group B. Skryne
Skryne or Skreen (), is a village situated on and around a hill between the N2 and N3 national primary roads in County Meath, Ireland. It is situated on the far side of the Gabhra valley from the Hill of Tara. This valley is sometimes referred to as the Tara-Skryne Valley. The Hill of Skryne is higher than the neighbouring Hill of Tara. County Meath (; gle, Contae na Mí or simply ) is a county in the Eastern and Midland Region of Ireland, within the province of Leinster. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. The Meath County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste na Mí) or Meath GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Meath, as well as for Meath county teams. Football County team The first notable Meath team was the Pierce O'Mahony's club from Navan that represented the county in the All-Ireland final of 1895, in the days when the competition was played between the champion clubs from each county. O'Mahony's lost to Arravale Rovers of Tipperary by 0-4 to 0-3. Séamus McEnaney (born 1967/1968) is a Gaelic football manager and businessman. He has managed his native Monaghan county team (in two spells), as well as the Meath and Wexford county teams. Business career McEnaney is in charge of Westenra Arms Hotel in the town of Monaghan. Trevor Giles
Trevor Giles is an Irish former Gaelic footballer for the Meath county team. Regarded as one of the best players of his generation, he plays club football for Skryne. He came to prominence first when he won an All Ireland minor medal with Meath in 1992. In 1993 he moved on to the Under 21 team and won an All Ireland title coming on as a sub in the final. He would go on to win 2 All Ireland Senior medals, 3 Leinster Senior Football Championship medals & 1 National League Medals. He usually played in the half forward line for Meath. Trevor has won 3 All Star awards and was chosen as the All Stars Footballer of the Year in 1996 and 1999 (as of 2019 still the only player to accomplish this feat) and Texaco Footballer of the Year in 1999. Andy McEntee
Andy McEntee is a Gaelic football manager. He has been the manager of the Antrim county team since 2022. He managed his native Meath between 2016 and 2022. Career McEntee managed Meath to the final of the 2012 All-Ireland Minor Football Championship. He led Ballyboden St Enda's of Dublin to the 2015–16 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship.
