Michael Francis Martin Kennedy (9 April 1961 – 9 February 2019) was a professional association football, footballer who played in the English Football League for Halifax Town A.F.C., Halifax Town, Huddersfield Town A.F.C., Huddersfield Town, Middlesbrough F.C., Middlesbrough, Portsmouth F.C., Portsmouth, Bradford City A.F.C., Bradford City, Leicester City F.C., Leicester City, Luton Town F.C., Luton Town, Chesterfield F.C., Chesterfield and Wigan Athletic F.C., Wigan Athletic. Born in England, he gained two cap (sport), caps for Republic of Ireland national football team, Ireland during his career. Throughout his career he was renowned for his tough style of play which often left him with a poor disciplinary record. Iceland Triangular Tournament
The Iceland Triangular Tournament was an international football tournament in 1986. All matches were played in Laugardalsvöllur, Reykjavík. The three teams competing were the Republic of Ireland, Iceland and Czechoslovakia. The Republic of Ireland won the competition, the first time that country won an international football tournament. It was notable as the beginning of the success that came under Jack Charlton's management; it was here that he trialled his famous tactics of pressuring opposition defenders in the hope of forcing mistakes. David O'Leary refused to play, instead going on a family holiday, which led to his being dropped from the international team for a time, Mick McCarthy taking his place at centre half. Lou Macari
Luigi Macari (born 7 June 1949) is a Scottish former footballer and manager. He began his playing career at Celtic where he was one of the Quality Street Gang, the outstanding reserve team that emerged in the late 1960s that also included Kenny Dalglish and Danny McGrain. He is best known for his time at Manchester United, where he played over 400 games. He helped them win promotion back to the First Division and then played in their FA Cup win of 1977. He then finished his playing career at Swindon Town. Macari was the manager of Swindon, West Ham United, Birmingham City, Stoke City (two spells), Celtic and Huddersfield Town. Alan Ball, Jr
Alan James Ball (12 May 1945 – 25 April 2007) was an English professional football player and manager. He was the youngest member of England's 1966 World Cup winning team and played as a midfielder for various clubs, scoring more than 180 league goals in a career spanning 22 years. His playing career also included a then national record £220,000 transfer from Everton to Arsenal at the end of 1971. After retiring as a player, he had a 15-year career as a manager which included spells in the top flight of English football with Portsmouth, Southampton, and Manchester City. Ayresome Park
Ayresome Park was a football stadium in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England. It was the home of Middlesbrough F.C. from its construction in time for the 1903–04 season, until the Riverside Stadium opened in 1995. It was demolished in 1997 and replaced with housing. History Middlesbrough had previously played at Linthorpe Road West cricket ground, but election to the Football League meant that an improved stadium was required. Ayresome Park was built at Paradise Field, adjacent to the old Paradise Ground of Middlesbrough Ironopolis, who had played in the Football League in the 1893–94 season. The highest attendance at the ground (53,802) was set on 27 December 1949, when Middlesbrough played their North East rivals Newcastle United.
