Michigan Wolverines Field Hockey
The Michigan Wolverines field hockey team is the intercollegiate field hockey program representing the University of Michigan. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). The Michigan field hockey team plays its home games at Phyllis Ocker Field on the university campus in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Michigan has won one NCAA Championship as well as eleven Big Ten regular season titles and eight Big Ten tournaments since the creation of the field hockey program in 1973. The team is currently coached by Marcia Pankratz. History Field hockey has been a varsity sport at the University of Michigan since 1973. Ferry Field
Ferry Field is a multi-purpose stadium in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It opened in 1906 and was home to the Michigan Wolverines football team prior to the opening of Michigan Stadium in 1927. It had a capacity of 46,000. It is currently used as a tailgating space for football games. After football moved to Michigan Stadium, Ferry Field was converted to an outdoor track and field facility and was still used for this purpose until 2018. In 1935, Ohio State sprinter Jesse Owens set world records in the 220 yard dash, the 200 meter dash, the 220 yard low hurdles, the 200 meter low hurdles, and the long jump, and tied the world record in the 100 yard dash, all within a 45-minute timespan. AstroTurf is an American subsidiary of SportGroup that produces artificial turf for playing surfaces in sports. April Fronzoni (born February 18, 1982 in Larksville, Pennsylvania) is a field hockey striker from the United States, who earned her first international senior cap versus Ireland on January 14, 2004 at Stanford, California. 2001 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship
The 2001 NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship was the 21st women's field hockey, collegiate field hockey tournament organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association, to determine the top college field hockey team in the United States. The Michigan Wolverines field hockey, Michigan Wolverines won their first championship, defeating the Maryland Terrapins field hockey, Maryland Terrapins in the final. The semifinals and championship were hosted by Kent State University at Dix Stadium in Kent, Ohio. The Maryland Terrapins field hockey team is the intercollegiate field hockey program representing the University of Maryland. The school competes in the Big Ten Conference in Division I of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), although it was a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) before 2014. The Maryland field hockey team plays its home games at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex on the university campus in College Park, Maryland.
