Michigan PGA Championship
The Michigan PGA Championship is a golf tournament that is the section championship of the Michigan section of the PGA of America. It has been played annually since 1922 at a variety of courses around the state. The 2018 event was noticeable for a nearly-forgotten rule that a participant must have 60 days of membership in the Michigan PGA. Ben Cook had the lowest score and received first place money, but Lee Houtteman was awarded the win and an exemption to the first Rocket Mortgage Classic. Cook was still eligible for entry into the PGA Professional Championship. Golf
Golf is a club-and-ball sport in which players use various clubs to hit balls into a series of holes on a course in as few strokes as possible. Golf, unlike most ball games, cannot and does not use a standardized playing area, and coping with the varied terrains encountered on different courses is a key part of the game. Courses typically have either 18 or 9 ''holes'', regions of terrain that each contain a ''cup'', the hole that receives the ball. Each hole on a course contains a teeing ground to start from, and a putting green containing the cup. Tom Harding
Thomas Harding (born 3 May 1982) is a New Zealand former professional rugby union player. Biography Born in Nelson, Harding is the younger brother of All Black Sam Harding and attended Christ's College, where he played both cricket and rugby. Al Mengert
Alfred John Mengert (April 7, 1929 – April 6, 2021) was an American professional golfer. Biography Born and raised in Spokane, Washington, he was the son of local businessman Otto Mengert and his wife Otelia Johnson, who was the sister of U.S. Racing Hall of Fame jockey Albert Johnson. Mengert played football at Gonzaga Prep, briefly attended Stanford University in the late 1940s, and served in the Washington Air National Guard and U.S. Air Force in the early 1950s. Mengert was first reserve for the 1951 Walker Cup team. He was runner-up in the 1952 U.S. Amateur to Jack Westland. Mengert turned professional in 1952 and worked mainly as a club pro while also playing on the PGA Tour. He won several non-PGA Tour events. Randy Erskine
Randy Erskine (born July 8, 1948) is an American professional golfer. He played as an amateur at the University of Michigan and won the 1970 Big Ten Conference championship. He turned professional in 1973 and won the Michigan Open five times between 1976 and 1985. He also won the 1978 Michigan PGA Championship, finished fifth at the 1977 Buick Open, and won the 2011 Michigan Senior PGA Championship.
