Michigan's 9th congressional district is a United States congressional district located in parts of Oakland County and Macomb County in the southeast areas of the State of Michigan. It includes the communities of Ferndale, Royal Oak, Hazel Park, St. Clair Shores, Warren, Bloomfield, and Sterling Heights. Recent election results from statewide races History Prior to 1992 the 9th congressional district did not overlap at all with the one that existed after 1992. It largely corresponded to the later Michigan's 2nd congressional district, covering most of the western shore counties starting with Muskegon and taking in a portion of Grand Traverse County. It also included about half of Ottawa County, Montcalm County, half of Ionia County, and two eastern townships of Kent County, Michigan. Oakland County, Michigan
Oakland County is a county in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is part of the metropolitan Detroit area, located northwest of the city. As of the 2020 Census, its population was 1,274,395, making it the second-most populous county in Michigan, behind neighboring Wayne County. It is the largest county in the United States without a city of 100,000 residents. The county seat is Pontiac. The county was founded in 1819 and organized in 1820. Oakland County is composed of 62 cities, townships, and villages, and is part of the Detroit–Warren– Dearborn, MI Metropolitan Statistical Area. Michigan's 2nd congressional district is a United States congressional district in Western Michigan. The current 2nd district contains much of Michigan's old 4th congressional district, and includes all of Manistee, Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Gladwin, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Montcalm, Gratiot, Ionia, and Barry counties, as well as portions of Midland, Wexford, Muskegon, Kent, and Eaton counties. The 2020 United States presidential election was the 59th quadrennial presidential election, held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Gretchen Whitmer
Gretchen Esther Whitmer (born August 23, 1971) is an American lawyer and politician serving as the 49th governor of Michigan since 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, she served in the Michigan House of Representatives from 2001 to 2006 and in the Michigan Senate from 2006 to 2015. Whitmer was born and raised in Michigan. She is a graduate of Forest Hills Central High School, Michigan State University, and the Detroit College of Law. Deborah Ann Stabenow ( ; née Greer, born April 29, 1950) is an American politician serving as the senior United States senator from Michigan, a seat she has held since 2001.
