Michigan's 68th House of Representatives district (also referred to as Michigan's 68th House district) is a legislative district within the Michigan House of Representatives located in parts of Genesee County, Michigan, Genesee and Oakland County, Michigan, Oakland counties. Virgil Bernero
Virgil Paul "Virg" Bernero (born March 31, 1964) is an American politician and former mayor of Lansing, Michigan, elected on November 8, 2005, and re-elected on November 3, 2009. He is a member of the Democratic Party. Prior to serving as mayor, Bernero served as a legislative aide, an Ingham County Commissioner and as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives and the Michigan Senate. He was the Democratic nominee for Governor of Michigan in 2010, losing in the November 2 general election to Republican Rick Snyder. Michigan Legislature
The Michigan Legislature is the legislature of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is organized as a bicameral body composed of an upper chamber, the Senate, and a lower chamber, the House of Representatives. Article IV of the Michigan Constitution, adopted in 1963, defines the role of the Legislature and how it is to be constituted. The 2012 Michigan House of Representatives elections were held on November 6, 2012, with partisan primaries to select the parties' nominees in the various districts on August 7, 2012. Due to gerrymandering, the Republican Party retained its majority in the House of Representatives despite losing the popular vote. Rep. Roy Schmidt scandal State Representative Roy Schmidt was defeated for re-election after assisting in engineering an election-rigging scandal by which he switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party and recruited a straw candidate to run as a Democrat in order to ensure a swift re-election. An election was held on November 8, 2016 to elect all 110 members to Michigan's House of Representatives. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. President, U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. The primary election was held on August 2, 2016. There was no change in the composition of the House as Republicans retained control, winning 63 seats compared to 47 seats for the Democrats. Republicans retained control of the House, despite losing the popular vote, after a net loss of five seats, winning 58 seats compared to 52 seats for the Democrats. Davison, Michigan
Davison is a city in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan and a suburb of Flint. The population was 5,536 at the 2000 census and fell to 5,173 by the 2010 census. Davison is located within Davison Township survey township area (7N 8E), but is administratively autonomous. Davison was named after Judge Norman Davison, a judge of Lapeer County and a delegate to state constitution convention of 1835. He resided in a nearby hamlet formerly known as Davisonville, now known as Atlas. Andy Schor
Andy Schor (born March 20, 1975) is an American politician currently serving as the 52nd mayor of Lansing, Michigan. A member of the Democratic Party, Schor was previously a member of the Ingham County Board of Commissioners. He also represented the 68th district in the Michigan House of Representatives, which includes most of the City of Lansing and all of Lansing Township. Schor is the first Jewish mayor of Lansing.
