Michigan's 28th Senate District
Michigan's 28th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 28th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. It has been represented by Democratic Samir Singh since 2023, succeeding Republican Mark Huizenga. Geography District 28 encompasses parts of Clinton, Ingham, and Shiawassee counties. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 28, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, covered the suburbs of Grand Rapids in Kent County, including the communities of Wyoming, Walker, Grandville, Rockford, Cedar Springs, Plainfield Township, Byron Township, Alpine Township, Algoma Township, Cannon Township, and Sparta Township. Samir Singh
The Bollywood Boyz are a Canadian professional wrestling tag team composed of brothers Gurvinder "Gurv" Sihra (born November 13, 1984) and Harvinder "Harv" Sihra (born November 2, 1987). They are best known for their time in WWE, where Gurvinder and Harvinder performed under the ring names Sunil Singh and Samir Singh, respectively. Cedar Springs, Michigan
Cedar Springs is a city in Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,509 at the 2010 census. Cedar Springs is a northern city of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area and is about north of Grand Rapids. History The area was first settled by Robin Hicks as early as 1855, and the first post office was established on February 4, 1857, with Nicholas Hill serving as the first postmaster. The new village was platted in 1859. The Grand Rapids and Indiana Railroad built a railway line through the area in 1868 and allowed for the growth of the village, which incorporated in 1871. The name Cedar Springs came from the abundance of cedar trees and springs found throughout the area. The village incorporated as a city in 1971. The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census. Its composition, powers and duties are established in Article IV of the Michigan Constitution. Members are elected in even-numbered years and take office at 12 p.m. (EST) on January 1 following the November general election. Michigan's 3rd Congressional District
Michigan's 3rd congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in West Michigan. From 2003 to 2013, it consisted of the counties of Barry and Ionia, as well as all except the northwestern portion of Kent, including the city of Grand Rapids. The district was extended to Battle Creek after redistricting in 2012. In 2022, the district was extended to include portions of Muskegon County. Algoma Township is a civil township of Kent County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 9,932 at the 2010 census, which is a large increase from 7,596 at the 2000 census. The township is part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area and is located about north of the city of Grand Rapids. History Algoma was originally settled in 1843. The township was established in 1849.
