Michigan Legislature
The Michigan Legislature is the legislature of the U.S. state of Michigan. It is organized as a bicameral body composed of an upper chamber, the Senate, and a lower chamber, the House of Representatives. Article IV of the Michigan Constitution, adopted in 1963, defines the role of the Legislature and how it is to be constituted. The 2012 Michigan House of Representatives elections were held on November 6, 2012, with partisan primaries to select the parties' nominees in the various districts on August 7, 2012. Due to gerrymandering, the Republican Party retained its majority in the House of Representatives despite losing the popular vote. Rep. Roy Schmidt scandal State Representative Roy Schmidt was defeated for re-election after assisting in engineering an election-rigging scandal by which he switched from the Democratic to the Republican Party and recruited a straw candidate to run as a Democrat in order to ensure a swift re-election. The election coincided with elections for other offices, including U.S. President, U.S. House of Representatives and Senate. The primary election was held on August 2, 2016. Plymouth is a city in Wayne County, Michigan, United States. The population was 9,370 at the 2020 census. Richard Steenland
Richard M. Steenland (born 1962) is an American politician serving as a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from the 22nd district. Elected in 2020, he assumed office on January 1, 2021. Early life and education Steenland was born around 1962 in Roseville, Michigan. In 1979, Steenland graduated from Carl Brablec High School. In 1992, he earned an associate degree from Macomb Community College. He also graduated from Oakland University, where he majored in human resources. Career Steenland has worked for Macomb County, Michigan in a number of positions since 1983, including as in the juvenile court, a judicial aide in the Friend of the Court and the Court Administrator's Office, and as in the tax collection department of the Macomb County Treasurer's Office.
