Michigan's 19th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 19th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. It has been represented by Sean McCann (politician), Sean McCann since 2023, succeeding Republican Party (United States), Republican John Bizon. Geography District 19 encompasses parts of Kalamazoo County, Michigan, Kalamazoo and Van Buren County, Michigan, Van Buren counties. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 19, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, was based in Battle Creek, Michigan, Battle Creek and covered all of Barry County, Michigan, Barry, Calhoun County, Michigan, Calhoun, and Ionia County, Michigan, Ionia Counties. Marshall, Michigan
Marshall is a U.S. city in Michigan. It is the county seat of Calhoun County. The population was 7,088 at the 2010 census. Marshall is best known for its cross-section of 19th- and early 20th-century architecture. It has been referred to by the keeper of the National Register of Historic Places as a "virtual textbook of 19th-Century American architecture." Michigan's 3rd Congressional District
Michigan's 3rd congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in West Michigan. From 2003 to 2013, it consisted of the counties of Barry and Ionia, as well as all except the northwestern portion of Kent, including the city of Grand Rapids. The district was extended to Battle Creek after redistricting in 2012. In 2022, the district was extended to include portions of Muskegon County. Bedford Charter Township is a charter township located in the northwest corner of Calhoun County in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is part of the Battle Creek, Michigan Metropolitan Statistical Area. Portland is a city in Ionia County of the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 3,883 at the 2010 census. Belding is a city in Ionia County in the U.S. state of Michigan, completely surrounded by Otisco Township, Michigan. The population was 5,757 at the 2010 census. History In 1838, six years before John Green came to the area that later would bear his name, Levi Broas, Belding's first settler, arrived in the area. Middleville, Michigan
Middleville is a village in Thornapple Township, Barry County, in the U.S. state of Michigan and part of the Grand Rapids metropolitan area. The population was 4,295 at the 2020 census. History The first white settler to own land in the village was Calvin G. Hill, a native of New York, who bought in 1834 on both sides of the Thornapple River. The village was likely surveyed and subdivided before 1850, but the plat was not officially recorded until 1859. Prior to 1843, the settlement was often called "Thornapple". The name Middleville was at first given to a post office on the stage coach line between Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo. The post office was located at the house of Benjamin S.
