Michigan's 18th Senate District
Michigan's 18th Senate district is one of 38 districts in the Michigan Senate. The 18th district was created by the 1850 Michigan Constitution, as the 1835 constitution only permitted a maximum of eight senate districts. It has been represented by Republican Thomas Albert since 2023, succeeding Democrat Jeff Irwin. Geography District 18 encompasses all of Barry County, as well as parts of Allegan, Calhoun, Ionia, Kalamazoo, and Kent counties. 2011 Apportionment Plan District 18, as dictated by the 2011 Apportionment Plan, was based in the city of Ann Arbor – home to the University of Michigan – also covering the nearby Washtenaw County communities of Ypsilanti, Saline, Pittsfield Township, Ypsilanti Township, and Superior Township. Michigan House Of Representatives
The Michigan House of Representatives is the lower house of the Michigan Legislature. There are 110 members, each of whom is elected from constituencies having approximately 77,000 to 91,000 residents, based on population figures from the 2010 U.S. Census. Its composition, powers and duties are established in Article IV of the Michigan Constitution. Members are elected in even-numbered years and take office at 12 p.m. (EST) on January 1 following the November general election. Concurrently with the Michigan Senate, the House first convenes on the second Wednesday in January, according to the state constitution. Each member is limited to serving three terms of two years. Michigan's 7th Congressional District
Michigan's 7th congressional district is a United States congressional district in Southern Michigan and portions of Central Michigan. From 2004 to 2013 it consisted of all of Branch, Eaton, Hillsdale, Jackson, and Lenawee counties, and included most of Calhoun and a large portion of western and northern Washtenaw counties. The current district, which was created in 2022, is centered around Lansing, Michigan's state capital, and includes all of Clinton, Shiawassee, Ingham, and Livingston counties, as well as portions of Eaton and Oakland counties. The district is currently represented by Democrat Elissa Slotkin, who previously represented the old 8th district. The previous incarnation of this district was represented by Republican Tim Walberg, who now represents the state's 5th congressional district. Superior Charter Township is a charter township of Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 13,058 at the 2010 census. Communities * Dixboro is an unincorporated community located within the township at . Dixboro was settled as early as 1825 by John Dix and was platted in 1826 by A. B. Rowe. The name was first recorded in 1828 at a time when the area was still administratively part of Wayne County until Washtenaw County was created in 1829. A post office opened under the name Dixborough, which was named after John Dix, on December 6, 1825. The post office closed on September 25, 1850. The post office was then restored on two separate occasions from July 11, 1861 until January 20, 1863 and again from May 26, 1890 until it ultimately closed on June 15, 1905. Pittsfield Charter Township is a charter township of Washtenaw County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 34,663 at the 2010 census.
