Archibald Michie
Sir Archibald Michie , (1813 – 21 June 1899) was an English-born Australian lawyer, journalist, Agent-General, Attorney-General of Victoria and politician. Michie was born in Maida Vale, London, the son of Archibald Michie, a merchant. Michie junior was educated at Westminster School and was admitted to the Middle Temple in November 1834 and called to the Bar in May 1838. In the late 1830s, Michie migrated to Sydney, Australia and married Mary Richardson in 1840. The following year he was admitted to the New South Wales barrister roll. Michie was associated with Sir James Martin and Robert Lowe (1st Viscount Sherbrooke) on the ''Atlas'' newspaper when it was founded in 1844. Around 1849, Michie returned to England for a short while and then migrated to Canada. Then he returned to Sydney and moved to Melbourne in 1852. Patricia Therese Michie (''née'' O'Hara) is Emeritus Professor of Psychology, and co-director of the Schizophrenia Program of the Priority Research Centre in Translational Neuroscience and Mental Health at the University of Newcastle. Career Michie's significant research in mismatch negativity (MMN) provided the first evidence for MMN as a potential early marker for schizophrenia. Her collaboration in this area with Dr Rebbekah Atkinson and Professor Ulrich Schall (also from the University of Newcastle), found two potential markers, which could allow early intervention, and potentially increase the chance of successful long-term treatments. Their resulting paper, published in ''Biological Psychiatry'' in 2012, was one of the most highly cited papers that year, as reported by the Schizophrenic Research Institute. Michie Stadium
Michie Stadium is an outdoor football stadium on the campus of the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York. The home field for the Army Black Knights, it opened in 1924 and has a current seating capacity of 38,000. The stadium sits at the upper portion of campus, directly west of Lusk Reservoir. The field is at an elevation of above sea level and runs in the traditional north–south configuration, with the press box above the west sideline. Michie is a town in McNairy County, Tennessee. The population was 647 at the 2000 census and 591 at the 2010 census. History Michie is rooted in a 19th century community known as "Monterey." When the community applied for a post office, the name Monterey had already been taken by another town in Tennessee, so the community settled on the name "Michie" after a prominent local family. Janet Ray Michie, Baroness Michie of Gallanach (''née'' Bannerman; 4 February 1934 – 6 May 2008) was a Scottish speech therapist and Liberal Democrat politician. Peter Smith Michie (March 24, 1839 - February 16, 1901) was an American educator and soldier. Biography He was born in Brechin, Scotland, came to the United States in 1843, and was brought up in Cincinnati. He graduated second in the class of 1863 at West Point and entered the engineer corps. During the Civil War, he served in the campaign of 1864 against Richmond, Virginia; was chief engineer of General Benjamin Butler's Army of the James during the construction of the Dutch Gap Canal; and was at the head of all engineering operations of the left column at Hatcher's Run and in the pursuit of General Robert E. John Michie (born 25 October 1956) is a Scottish television and film actor, known for his roles as DI Robbie Ross in the STV detective drama series ''Taggart'', as Karl Munro in ''Coronation Street'' from 2011–2013 and his role as CEO Guy Self in ''Casualty'' and ''Holby City''. Early life Michie was born in Burma and boarded at Windlesham House School while his family were based in Kenya. Bill Michie
William Michie (24 November 1935 – 22 September 2017) was a British politician. He was Labour Member of Parliament for Sheffield Heeley from 1983 to 2001, when he stood down. He was a member of the Socialist Campaign Group of MPs and of the Parliamentary Humanist Group. After his death the BBC described him as "a stalwart of Sheffield politics".
