Michelle Jaggard-Lai
Michelle Jaggard-Lai (born 6 May 1969) is a retired tennis player from Australia. She turned professional in 1984. In her career, Jaggard-Lai won three doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She also reached the quarterfinals of the 1992 Australian Open, partnering Kimiko Date. In singles, she reached round three of the 1989 Australian Open. She reached a career-high doubles ranking of No. 42 in February 1991 and a best singles ranking of No. 83 in May 1993. Jaggard-Lai was a member of the Australia Fed Cup team that lost in the final of the 1993 Federation Cup. She played in the singles main draw at the Australian Open eight times, the French Open six times, Wimbledon four times & the US Open once. US Open (tennis)
The US Open Tennis Championships is a hardcourt tennis tournament held annually in Queens, New York. Since 1987, the US Open has been chronologically the fourth and final Grand Slam tournament of the year. The other three, in chronological order, are the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon. The US Open starts on the last Monday of August and continues for two weeks, with the middle weekend coinciding with the US Labor Day holiday. The Wimbledon Championships, commonly known simply as Wimbledon, is the oldest tennis tournament in the world and is widely regarded as the most prestigious. Australia Fed Cup Team
The Australia Billie Jean King Cup team represents Australia in international women's tennis and is directed by Tennis Australia. The team played in the first ever tournament in 1963, and is one of four teams that has taken part in every single edition since. The Australian national team is one of the most successful in world tennis. They are seven-time world champions and have reached a total of eighteen finals, second highest as Runners-up all-time behind United States. Kimiko Date
is a Japanese former professional tennis player. She reached the semifinals of the 1994 Australian Open, the 1995 French Open and the 1996 Wimbledon Championships, and won the Japan Open a record four times. She reached a career-high ranking of world No. 4 in 1995, and retired from professional tennis in November 1996. She returned to tennis nearly 12 years later, announcing an unexpected comeback in April 2008. She then won her eighth WTA title at the 2009 Korea Open, becoming the second-oldest player in the Open era, after Billie Jean King, to win a singles title on the WTA Tour.
