Michaela Leonard
Michaela Lea Leonard (born 6 March 1995) is an Australian rugby union player. She plays at Lock for the Wallaroos and competed at the recent Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. She previously played for the Brumbies before joining the Western Force in the Super W competition. She has also played for Exeter Chiefs and Matatū. Personal life Leonard graduated from the University of Canberra with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy. Rugby career 2018–21 Leonard plays club rugby for Tuggeranong Vikings and played for the Brumbies from 2018 to 2021 in the Super W competition. She only started playing rugby union ahead of the Brumbies tryouts before the inaugural season of Super W in 2018, she was later named Brumbies rookie of the year. She was named as co-captain of the Brumbies ahead of the 2020 Super W season, but the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the NSW Waratahs were crowned champions. 2020 Super W Season
The 2020 Super W season was the third edition of the women's Super W competition in Australia. The playoff and final were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the NSW Waratahs were dubbed champions after an undefeated season. 2023 Super W Season
The 2023 Super W season is the sixth edition of the competition. The season kicked off on 24 March, with the final played on 6 May. In a historic first, defending champions, Fijiana Drua, got to play in front of their home crowd in Nadi against the on 25 March. The Fijiana Drua successfully defended their Super W title when they defeated the Queensland Reds in the grand final, the score was 38–30. Competition format Each team will play each other once in a round-robin tournament over five rounds, both Semi-Finals is expected to be played at Concord Oval on 30 April in a doubleheader ( Queensland Reds vs. New South Wales Waratahs) with the final to take place on May 6 in Townsville, North Queensland. 2022–23 Premier 15s
The 2022–23 Premier 15s is the 6th season of the Premier 15s, the highest tier of English domestic women's rugby union competition (the 24th season including editions of the previous Women's Premiership), and the 3rd to be sponsored by Allianz. The competition schedule was adapted to take place in a shortened timeframe, compared with previous seasons, in order to accommodate the 2021 Rugby World Cup. For the second year running, the Allianz Cup will take place alongside the league, with fixtures for this cup competition scheduled within the international windows during the season. 2022 Laurie O'Reilly Cup
The 2022 Laurie O'Reilly Cup was the 13th edition of the competition. The matches were played on 20 and 27 of August, with both Australia and New Zealand hosting one match each. After a two year absence due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was confirmed that the competition would return. The first test was played in Christchurch at the Orangetheory Stadium on 20 August 2022. The second test was played in a curtain raiser to the Wallabies and Springboks test in Adelaide on 27 August 2022. The Black Ferns won the first test in Christchurch with an overwhelming 52–5 score and retained the O'Reilly Cup. They won the series after winning the second test in a hard-fought match, the game ended 14–22. New Zealand Women's National Rugby Union Team
The New Zealand women's rugby union team, called the Black Ferns, represents New Zealand in women's international rugby union, which is regarded as the country's national sport. The team has won six out of nine Women's Rugby World Cup tournaments. They have an 85 per cent winning record in Test match rugby, and are the only women's international side with a winning record against every opponent. Since their official international debut in 1990, the Black Ferns have lost to only four of the sixteen nations they have played against. 2022 Pacific Four Series
The 2022 Pacific Four Series was the second edition of the Pacific Four Series. The competition was hosted by New Zealand from 6 to 18 June. Matches were played at two of the venues which will host the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup – The Trusts Arena in West Auckland and the Semenoff Stadium in Whangārei. New Zealand won their first series title after defeating the United States 50–6 in the final round. Super Rugby Aupiki
Super Rugby Aupiki is a professional women's rugby union club competition in New Zealand. Its inaugural season was held in March 2022. It is a steppingstone between the Farah Palmer Cup and the Black Ferns. Aupiki translates as ‘''the ascent to the upper most realm''’. Format Initially the four teams were supposed to have three regular season matches with one home and away game, and one Super Round fixture. The top two teams at the end of the three rounds would contest the final. However, the competition was reformatted as a round robin fixture because of the impact of COVID-19. All the squads were strongly affected with player isolations and COVID-19 cases. The inaugural champion would be crowned based on their competition points after the final round. Arabella McKenzie
Arabella McKenzie (born 1 March 1999) is an Australian rugby union player. She represents Australia at an international level and competed at the delayed 2021 Rugby World Cup in New Zealand. Early life McKenzie grew up in Lightning Ridge, New South Wales, a small outback town roughly 700 km northwest of Sydney. She completed her secondary education as a boarder at Frensham, Mittagong. According to ESPN journalist Brittany Mitchell, "McKenzie grew up with the Steeden in her hands as opposed to the Gilbert", referring to the fact that she was "a rugby league fan from a young age who dreamed of playing for the St George Dragons." She was inspired to switch to union after watching TV coverage of the Australia women's sevens team's gold-medal run at the 2016 Summer Olympics. 2021 Super W Season
The 2021 Super W season had a different format to previous seasons. With the inclusion of the President's XV, teams were split into two pools of three. This format however was only for the 2021 season. The competition will revert to the usual home and away format in 2022. After the first round of the season the Western Force withdrew from the competition due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak in New South Wales. NSW Waratahs won their fourth consecutive Super W title after defeating Queensland 45 - 12 in the final. A Super W Select team played the Presidents XV in the finals, they replaced the Western Force. The Super W Select were only given 48 hours to prepare.
