Michaela Kirk
Michaela Louise Kirk (born 30 June 1999) is a South African cricketer who currently plays for Nottinghamshire and The Blaze. She plays as a right-handed batter, right-arm off break bowler and occasional wicket-keeper. Having played for Northerns in South Africa between 2012/13 and 2019/20, in 2021 she moved to England to play cricket there, with ambitions to qualify for the national side. Early life Kirk was born on 30 June 1999 in Johannesburg. Her grandparents are from Edinburgh, which contributed to her family's decision to move back to England in 2021. Domestic career South Africa Kirk made her debut for Northerns in 2012, against Easterns. In her second season with the side, 2013/14, she took 6 wickets at an average of 7.00 in the Provincial T20 Competition. The Women's T20 Super League is a women's domestic Twenty20 cricket tournament organised by Cricket South Africa. The tournament began in September 2019, with four teams taking part; these teams were renamed for a second competition in December 2019. The 2023 Women's Twenty20 Cup, known for sponsorship reasons as the 2023 Vitality Women's County T20, was the 14th edition of the Women's Twenty20 Cup, an English women's cricket Twenty20 domestic competition. The Southern Vipers are a women's cricket team that represent the South of England. The Vipers wear an orange and black kit and play their home matches at the Ageas Bowl and the County Cricket Ground, Hove. They are currently coached by former England Women's captain and former player Charlotte Edwards. The Northamptonshire Women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the English historic county of Northamptonshire. The Hundred is a professional franchise 100-ball cricket tournament involving eight men's and eight women's teams located in major cities across England and Wales. The tournament is run by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and took place for the first time in July and August 2021. The format was invented with the expectation that each match lasts around two-and-a-half hours. The BBC showed free-to-air broadcasts of the competition, while all of the women's matches and some of the men's matches were available to stream for free on Sky Sports' YouTube channel.
