Michael Wallace (politician)
Michael Wallace (ca 1744 – October 8, 1831) was a Scottish-born merchant, judge and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Halifax County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1785 to 1802. He was born in Lanarkshire and became a merchant in Glasgow, moving to Norfolk, Virginia in 1771. After losing his property in the American Revolution, Wallace moved to Halifax in 1779, where he became a retail and wholesale merchant, mainly importing goods from Britain. He married Mary Kerby in 1781. Wallace was named a judge in the Inferior Court of Common Pleas; he also received a number of patronage appointments and supply contracts with the military. In 1802, he was named to the Nova Scotia Council; as senior member of the council, he was called to administer the colony during absences by the lieutenant governor. Michael Wallace (born 9 November 1955) is an Irish politician and former property developer who has been a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) from Ireland for the South constituency since July 2019. He is a member of Independents 4 Change, part of The Left in the European Parliament – GUE/NGL. He was a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Wexford constituency from 2011 to 2019. Entering politics in 2011 following the post-2008 Irish economic downturn, Wallace was almost immediately considered to be one of the most eccentric and unconventional figures in Irish national politics. Michael L. Wallace (born September 3, 1963) is a Canadian politician. He successfully stood for councillor in Burlington, Ontario in 1994 and was re-elected three times. He has represented the electoral district of Burlington from 2006 to 2015 in the House of Commons of Canada as a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. Wallace had an 11–3 record in 117 career games. Michael Samuel Wallace (born March 10, 1959) is an American professional stock car racing driver. He last competed part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, driving the No. 0 Chevrolet Camaro for JD Motorsports. Born in Fenton, Missouri, he is the younger brother of Rusty Wallace, older brother of Kenny Wallace, and uncle of Steve Wallace. He played college football for Ole Miss, and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the third round, 84th overall of the 2009 NFL Draft. Michael John "Red" Wallace (July 12, 1918 – July 7, 1977) was an American professional basketball player. He played for the Boston Celtics during the 1946–47 Basketball Association of America season, the first in the league's existence, before he was traded to the Toronto Huskies for Charlie Hoefer. Stacey Ruth Castor (née Daniels, formerly Wallace; July 24, 1967 – June 11, 2016) was an American convicted murderer from Weedsport, New York. In 2009, she was found guilty of intentionally poisoning her then-husband David Castor with antifreeze in 2005 and attempting to murder her daughter, Ashley Wallace, with crushed pills mixed in with vodka, orange juice, and Sprite in 2007. In addition, she is suspected of having murdered her first husband, Michael Wallace, in 2000; his grave lay next to David Castor's until David's remains were disinterred in 2016 and buried elsewhere by his son.
