Michael Stewart (American Football)
Michael Anthony Stewart (born July 13, 1965) is a former American football Safety (American football position), safety who played seven seasons in the National Football League for the Los Angeles Rams. He then played three seasons for the Miami Dolphins. Three times Stewart was drafted in baseball but he finally opted for pro football after an outstanding career with the Fresno State U., Bulldogs. The Rams, who have been less than astute with their higher draft picks, did themselves proud in grabbing Stewart as an eighth-rounder in 1987. Although a linebacker and pass rusher at BC, Stewart was converted to safety by Fresno coach Jim Sweeney and in that role, has established himself as a fast, hard hitter for the Rams, with aggressiveness that spills over to special team. Mike Stewart is an American politician from the state of Tennessee. He was a Democratic member of the Tennessee House of Representatives, representing the 52nd district. Stewart was the chair of the Tennessee House Democratic Caucus. Personal history Before his election to the House, Stewart served in the Army, first in Korea, where he was awarded the Eighth Army Distinguished Leader Award, and later in Operation Desert Storm. Following Desert Storm, Stewart attended the University of Tennessee Law School, where he graduated ''cum laude'' in 1994. Stewart and his wife Ruth then moved to the East Nashville neighborhood of Lockeland Springs in order for Stewart to begin his legal career; he later practiced law at the Nashville law firm Waller Lansden Dortch & Davis, LLP before pursuing a career in politics. She served as the sixth First Lady of Alaska during the tenure of her former husband, Alaska Governor Steve Cowper. Michael James Stewart (born 26 February 1981) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a midfielder. He began his career with Manchester United and played for both Edinburgh derby rivals, Hearts and Hibernian. He also played for Nottingham Forest and Charlton Athletic during his career. Michael Curtis "Yogi" Stewart (born April 24, 1975) is a retired French-born American basketball player who last played for the Atlanta Hawks of the NBA. Early life Stewart, son of former Santa Clara standout and European pro Mike Stewart, was born in Cucq, Pas-de-Calais, France and starred at Kennedy High School in Sacramento, California, leading the Cougars to back-to-back city section titles in 1990 and 1991. Stewart earned his nickname "Yogi" from his older brother for his childhood love of Yogi Bear cartoons. College career Stewart played four seasons at the University of California, Berkeley. Michael Stewart (born May 30, 1972) is a Canadian-Austrian former professional ice hockey defenceman who has become a coach after his playing days. He was drafted in the first round, thirteenth overall, of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers, but never played a game in the NHL. Playing career Stewart attended Michigan State University for three seasons before signing with the New York Rangers in 1992. Mike Stewart (born 1963) is a nine-time World Champion bodyboarder, one of the early pioneers of the bodyboarding sport, a pioneer of big-wave tow-in surfing and also a champion bodysurfer. He best known for his college career at Santa Clara University, where he was named the West Coast Conference Player of the Year in 1972. He is the father of former NBA player Michael "Yogi" Stewart. College career Stewart, a 6'10" tall center, played college basketball at the University of Santa Clara, from 1970 to 1973. After redshirting in what would have been his sophomore year, he was a three-year starter for the Broncos, and he led the team in scoring all three years.
