Michael Ryan (hurler, Born 1970)
Michael Ryan (born 4 February 1970) is an Irish hurling manager and former player. He was the manager of the Tipperary senior team from November 2015 until August 2018. Born in Upperchurch, County Tipperary, Ryan first arrived on the inter-county scene as a dual player at the age of seventeen, before later joining the under-21 teams in both codes. After joining the senior football team during the 1989 championship, he made his senior hurling debut during the 1991 championship. Ryan went on to play a key role for the team, winning one All-Ireland medal, two Munster medals and one National Hurling League medal. He was an All-Ireland runner-up on one occasion. As a member of the Munster inter-provincial team on a number of occasions, Ryan won two Railway Cup medals. At club level he was a one-time championship medallist in the intermediate grade with Upperchurch–Drombane. Throughout his career Ryan made 24 championship appearances for Tipperary. Canon Michael Kennedy Ryan (4 October 1867 – 3 April 1925) was an Irish people, Irish Catholic Church, Catholic priest, teacher and supporter of the Gaelic Athletic Association. Biography Michael Kennedy Ryan was born at Knockfune, Newport, County Tipperary, on 4 October 1867. (Other sources give an alternative birthdate of 29 September 1868.) He was educated locally at Toor National School before going to Mount Melleray Abbey, Mount Mellery. Michael Clarkson Ryan (April 23, 1820 – October 23, 1861) was an American attorney and one of eight founders of Beta Theta Pi, a college fraternity founded at Miami University in 1839. He was born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania and his family moved to Hamilton, Ohio in 1832. He received his A.B. degree from Miami in 1839 and his LL.B. from Cincinnati in 1842. He began to practice law in Hamilton, Ohio with his brother-in-law John B. Weller, a future U.S. Congressman, Senator and California governor. Michael Ryan (1800–1840) was a British physician and author, Life The '' Oxford Dictionary of National Biography'' states that Ryan was probably born in Ireland. His medical training took place in Dublin and Edinburgh. He then went into practice in Kilkenny for some years, moving to London in 1829. Ryan was a member of the Royal College of Physicians in London, where he practised, and was a physician to the Metropolitan Free Hospital. He also took on a number of lecturing posts. He died in London on 11 December 1840, leaving a young family. Michael Ryan (23 June 1784 – September 1830) was one of seven children born to John Ryan (who has been styled the "Father of the Press in British North America"), and Amelia Mott. Michael Ryan likely learned his trade as a printer, publisher, and editor at his father's feet. Early on in his career as a printer, he started two short-lived newspapers in Fredericton, Nova Scotia, and Saint John, New Brunswick. After the failure of these two papers, he worked briefly as a partner with his father on the first newspaper in Newfoundland. Likely eager to go off on his own he proposed a second paper for Newfoundland and was denied. Shortly after this he left Newfoundland for the Caribbean and edited, published and printed newspapers in Antigua and Barbados.
