Michael R. Carpenter is an American diplomat serving as United States ambassador to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe in the Biden administration. Education Carpenter earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Stanford University and a Master of Arts and PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley. Career Carpenter was a career officer with the United States Foreign Service. He served as deputy director of the Office of Russian Affairs, special assistant for the under secretary for political affairs, political-military officer in the Office of European Security, and political affairs and advisor on regional conflicts in the Office of Caucasus Affairs and Regional Conflicts. United States Mission To The Organization For Security And Cooperation In Europe
The United States Mission to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe represents the United States government in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE). Currently, Michael R. Carpenter represents the United States at the OSCE and holds the title of ambassador. The United States Mission to the OSCE is composed of representatives of the Department of State, the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Defense Department, and of the joint Congressional/Executive Branch Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe, also known as the U.S. Helsinki Commission. Helga Schmid
Helga Maria Schmid (born 8 December 1960 in Dachau, West Germany) is a German diplomat who has been serving as the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) since 2020. Prior to that appointment (from 2016 until 2020), she was the Secretary General of the European External Action Service (EEAS). Education Schmid has advanced degrees in Literature, History and Politics from the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. She also studied International and European Union law, Economics and International relations at the Diplomatic Academy of Vienna.
