Michael Putnam
Michael John Putnam (born June 1, 1983) is an American professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour and the Web.com Tour. Putnam was born in Tacoma, Washington. He played on the Nationwide Tour in 2006. He had two 2nd-place finishes on the Nationwide Tour in 2006 including losing in a playoff at the Rheem Classic. He finished 17th on the money list to earn his PGA Tour card for 2007. He finished 158th on the money list and dropped back to the Nationwide Tour in 2008. He played the Nationwide Tour through 2010 when he finished the year 24th on the money list and earned his 2011 PGA Tour card. Putnam finished 153rd on the PGA Tour money list and lost his Tour card after the 2011 season. In 2013, he finished the Web.com Tour (renamed from Nationwide Tour in 2012) regular season as the leading money winner and regained his PGA Tour card; Putnam was fully exempt as money leader. Tacoma ( ) is the county seat of Pierce County, Washington, United States. Alex Prugh
Alexander Prugh (born September 1, 1984) is an American professional golfer who has played on the Web.com Tour and the PGA Tour. Early years Prugh was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. He attended Joel E. Ferris High School, where he was a member of the golf team. He later went on to play at the University of Washington, where he was a three-time varsity Pac-10 All-Conference. Professional career Since turning professional in 2007, Prugh has spent most of his career playing on the second tier Nationwide Tour, where he has one victory, achieved at the 2009 Michael Hill New Zealand Open. 2005 Walker Cup
The 40th Walker Cup Match was played on August 13 and 14, 2005 at the Chicago Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois, United States. Team United States won 12½ to 11½. Format The format for play on Saturday and Sunday are the same. There are four matches of foursomes in the morning and eight singles matches in the afternoon. In all, 24 matches are played. Each of the 24 matches is worth one point in the larger team competition. If a match is all square after the 18th hole extra holes are not played. Rather, each side earns ½ a point toward their team total. The team that accumulates at least 12½ points wins the competition. Walker Cup
The Walker Cup is a golf trophy contested in odd-numbered years by leading male amateur golfers in two teams: United States, and Great Britain and Ireland. The official name is the Walker Cup Match (not "Matches" as in Ryder Cup Matches). It is organised by The R&A and the United States Golf Association (USGA). In 1921 the Royal Liverpool Golf Club hosted an unofficial contest which was followed by official annual contests from 1922 through 1924. From 1925 they became biennial, held on even-number years. After World War II they switched to odd-numbered years. They are held alternately in the U.S., and Ireland or Britain. The cup is named after George Herbert Walker who was president of the USGA in 1920 when the match was initiated. Walker is the grandfather and namesake of George H. W. Palmer Cup
The Arnold Palmer Cup is an annual team golf competition for college/university golfers. From 2018 it has been contested between a United States team and an International team representing the rest of the world. The teams consist of 12 men and 12 women. The teams are selected on the basis of nationality, not according to the location of the players' universities. The 2023 event will be held from June 10 to 12 at Laurel Valley Golf Club, near Ligonier, Pennsylvania. History From its foundation in 1997 until 2017 the event was only contested by men. The Players Championship
The Players Championship (commonly known as simply The Players, stylized by the PGA Tour as The PLAYERS Championship) is an annual golf tournament on the PGA Tour. Originally known as the Tournament Players Championship, it began in 1974. The Players Championship at one point offered the highest purse of any tournament in golf ($20 million). The field usually includes the top 50 players in the world rankings, but unlike the major championships and World Golf Championships events, it is owned by the PGA Tour and not an official event on other tours. The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Darron Gary Stiles (born June 1, 1973) is an American professional golfer. Stiles was born in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was a three-time All-America at Florida Southern College and was a member of the 1995 NCAA Division II National Championship team. Stiles played on the Nationwide Tour in 1997, 1999–2002, 2004, and 2008 and the PGA Tour in 2003, 2005–07, and 2009. He gained his PGA Tour card for 2007 by finishing tied for 16th at Q-School in 2006 but failed to retain his card, and returned to the Nationwide Tour in 2008.
