Michael Parsons (composer)
Michael Edward Parsons (born 12 December 1938) is a British composer. Since the 1960s, when he met Cornelius Cardew and helped found the Scratch Orchestra, Parsons has been strongly associated with the English school of experimental music. He was born in Bolton and studied at St John's College, Oxford before taking up composition lessons under Peter Racine Fricker at the Royal College of Music in London in 1961. In the 1960s he met Cornelius Cardew; Parsons attended Cardew's experimental music classes at Morley College since 1968. In 1969 Cardew, Parsons and fellow composer Howard Skempton founded the Scratch Orchestra, an experimental free ensemble devoted to performing contemporary music. The Orchestra broke up in early 1970s, partly as a result of the politization led by Cardew. Parsons was among the Orchestra members who refused to be associated with the Maoist politics Cardew was propagating, and left. Michael Parsons (cricketer)
Michael Parsons (born 26 November 1984) was an English cricketer. He was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-fast bowler who played first-class cricket for Somerset. Parsons was born in Taunton. Parsons began his career playing Second XI cricket in 2002, and made his most recent appearance in the competition in August 2006. In between he played occasional limited overs cricket, though he didn't get his debut first-class start until May 2005. While Parsons made little contribution with the bat, his, and the rest of the team's, bowling against opponents Lancashire was expensive, as the match was played out to a draw. Michael Parsons (Australian Footballer)
Michael Wayne Parsons (3 October 1960 – 24 April 2009) was an Australian rules footballer who played for the Sydney Swans in the Victorian/Australian Football League (VFL/AFL) and North Adelaide in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Parsons grew up in Legana, Tasmania. He first played football as a junior with Launceston. He played under ex-St.Kilda defender Roy Apted who coached the young Blues to the 1976 Under 16 premiership in the Northern Tasmanian Junior Football Association (NTJFA). Nicknamed "Bristles", Parsons was initially a talented basketball player also, winning a basketball scholarship to Utah. Upon returning to Australia he played for the Launceston Casino City in the National Basketball League. Most notably, he played at Launceston in the 1981 NBL Season, where they were league Champions. Mike Parsons (born March 13, 1965, in California) is an American professional surfer and surfing coach. Early life Parsons was raised in Laguna Beach, California and began surfing when he was six-years-old. In 1983, he earned second place in the Junior Division of the United States Surfing Championships. Career In 2001, Parsons was towed into a 66-foot wave at Cortes Bank, CA, for which he was awarded $66,000 the highest prize ever awarded in the history of professional surfing. This money was awarded by the Billabong XXL competition which paid tribute to the biggest waves ridden each year. Parsons also surfed a 64-foot wave during competition at the Jaws break on the north shore of Maui. It was filmed by helicopter and used as the opening scene of the 2003 film '' Billabong Odyssey''.
