Michael Newton (footballer)
Michael Newton (born 27 April 1987) is an Australian rules footballer who played for Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL) and the Norwood Football Club in the SANFL. Career Originally from Whorouly, Newton was taken at pick 43 in the 2004 AFL Draft. He was given plenty of time to mature in the Victorian Football League at the Sandringham Football Club where he had kicked big bags of goals on a number of occasions and before debuting for the Demons in 2007 in Round 13 in Neale Daniher's final game as coach. With a knee injury to David Neitz, Newton was required to be a stand in full forward and subsequently played successive games, kicking a goal in his first game and scoring an impressive three goals against Carlton. Michael Newton (September 16, 1951 – September 6, 2021) was an American author best known for his work on Don Pendleton's ''The Executioner'' book series. Biography Altogether, Newton published 357 books, which included 258 novels and 99 nonfiction books. He also published 91 nonfiction articles and 58 shorter pieces, including chapters in several best-selling true-crime anthologies. In 2017 Newton received the Lifetime Achievement Peacemaker Award from Western Fictioneers, honoring his publication of 62 western novels. Cryptozoology Newton's ''Encyclopedia of Cryptozoology'' won the American Library Association's award for Outstanding Reference Work in 2006. The book features 2,744 entries on cryptozoology with a glossary and lengthy bibliography. It was positively reviewed in ''The Quarterly Review of Biology'' as enjoyable reading and an important resource on the topic. Sir Michael Newton, 4th Baronet, (''ca''. 1695 – 6 April 1743) was an English landowner and politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1722 to 1743. Newton was the only son of Sir John Newton, 3rd Baronet, and his wife Susanna Warton, daughter of Michael Warton of Beverley, and sister of Sir Michael Warton. The Newton family fortune derived originally from the legacy of a Grantham moneylender. Newton also inherited a significant fortune from his maternal uncle, Sir Michael Warton, whom he succeeded as Member of Parliament (MP) for Beverly at the 1722 British general election. He was one of the wealthy commoners who were made knights of the new Order of the Bath by Sir Robert Walpole in 1725, but in Parliament Newton consistently voted against Walpole's government. Beverley has been the name of a parliamentary constituency in the East Riding of Yorkshire for three periods.
