''The Wheel'' is a British television game show hosted by Michael McIntyre, mainly broadcast on Saturday evenings on BBC One. Production McIntyre explained that he first thought of ideas for ''The Wheel'' while taking a bath, envisioning the idea of a "human roulette wheel". He pondered that there had been "so many talent shows" on British television, but not many "brand new" game shows. Seeking formats that could be easily produced under COVID-19 safety protocols such as social distancing (eased by design due to its large studio set at Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire), the BBC picked up ''The Wheel'' as a ''de facto'' substitute for McIntyre's variety show series ''Michael McIntyre's Big Show'' (which was not feasible to produce due to its heavy reliance on live audience participation). It is an adaptation of the British television series of the same name. Three contestants compete on each episode for a chance to win up to $180,000, drawing on the expertise of six celebrities in a variety of subjects. TV4 (''TV fyra'') is a Swedish free-to-air television network owned by TV4 AB, a subsidiary of the TV4 Media AB. It started broadcasting by satellite in 1990 and, since 1992, on terrestrial television. In 1994, TV4 became the largest channel and remained so for a number of years.
