Michael McDermott (born August 24, 1968) is an American singer-songwriter from Chicago, Illinois, United States. His music is enjoyed by Stephen King, who wrote liner notes for one of McDermott's albums. Career 1991: Record deal & ''620 W. Surf'' McDermott started performing in Chicago coffeehouses in the early 1990s, incorporating elements of Irish music into an American folk rock sound. He was signed by Brian Koppelman to Giant Records (Warner), Giant Records; his 1991 single ''A Wall I Must Climb'' from the album ''620 W. Surf'' reached No. 34 on the Billboard magazine, Billboard Mainstream Rock tracks chart. McDermott released several albums in the 1990s and toured extensively behind them. His lyrics were quoted in the Stephen King books ''Insomnia (2002 film), Insomnia'', and in the book ''Rose Madder (novel), Rose Madder'', one of the characters constantly wears a shirt of his that reads "I'm in love with a girl called Rain".

The Bouncing Souls
The Bouncing Souls are an American punk band from New Brunswick, New Jersey, formed in 1989. By the time of their acknowledgment by the national punk rock scene, they had reignited a "pogo" element to New Jersey punk rock by playing fast light-hearted songs, a model followed by various other local bands. History The four original members grew up in Basking Ridge, New Jersey and played in smaller bands while attending Ridge High School. Although they decided to forgo college, they made the decision to move to a college town; New Brunswick, NJ, which is the home of Rutgers University. New Brunswick had a reputation for supporting underground music, and over the years had seen not only musical acts but actors enjoy professional success. Joan Jett (born Joan Marie Larkin, September 22, 1958) is an American singer, guitarist, record producer, and actress. Jett is best known for her work as the frontwoman of her band Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and for earlier founding and performing with the Runaways, which recorded and released the hit song "Cherry Bomb". Wakefield Massacre
On December 26, 2000, a mass shooting took place at Edgewater Technology in Wakefield, Massachusetts, United States. Michael Morgan McDermott, an application support employee, shot and killed all seven of his coworkers. It is the deadliest mass shooting in Massachusetts history. The weapons he used were an AK-47 variant, a 12-gauge shotgun and a .32 caliber pistol. He fired off a total of 37 rounds, shooting his victims in the back of the head repeatedly. Police later found a .460-calibre Weatherby Mark V rifle in McDermott's locker. He was found by police sitting calmly and stated that he did not speak German. At trial, he stated that he was born without a soul and that God had allowed him to earn a soul by traveling back in time to kill Nazis. However, the prosecution asserted that the killings were motivated by his employer's garnishment of his wages for the IRS in order to pay back taxes that he owed. ''Starting Over'' is a 1979 American comedy film based on Dan Wakefield's 1973 novel, produced by James L. Brooks, and directed by Alan J. Pakula.
